Again, read my tagline. What is a “reasonable program” that is not some form of the same thing Newt is talking about?
Everyone says “No amnesty.” So what if they say that?
Cain’s plan = Newt’s plan, roughly. That is simply the truth. He is not deporting all illegals which means he is offering some form of amnesty by definition.
You put down some of your own ideas as to how illegals could not be deported, but Cain has never said these things. He has, however, said what he has said. He wants an alternative to blanket deportation, which is exactly what Newt said.
A lot of the arguments make little sense. The action required is border control and drug control job one. The ones trapped inside must now be vetted. It requires a level line and a case by case existence here based on criminality. Upon that discovery, those allowed to stay must now apply for a “legal” status that results in a “green card”.
If people think that 30 million people are going to be deported, well, it isn’t going to happen.
And again, show me where he SPECIFICALLY said he wouldn’t deport them. While you’re at it tell me where the definition of “reasonable” means they get to stay. I don’t particularly care about your tagline. I’d also like to know where the definition of NOT amnesty means “let them stay”. Otherwise you’re simply making assumptions based on what you think he means when the language is pretty clear. I realize we’re all used to politicians that speak out of both sides of their mouths but Cain isn’t one of them. Repeating the same words back to me for the 3rd or 4th time does NOT make you correct. I want to see where Cain said the same thing Newt said tonight. Mind you, I think Newt is being practical even if it will most likely make his poll numbers drop but that doesn’t mean their 2 policies are the same. However, it is fair to say Cain’s isn’t fleshed out enough to know whether he’s talking about amnesty.
