Did Cain actually talk about oil exports from Syria or did I mishear what he said...Syria is not a big oil player, in fact, they have very little.

Syria exports a lot of oil to its neighbors, which is the point Cain was making.

Syria is not a big oil player, in fact, they have very little. Syria earns 2/3 of its foreign exchange by exporting oil.
They're not big players...but it's important to them.

It's not relevant whether Syria is a big player in world oil, what's relevant is whether oil exports are important to Syria. And they are. And Cain was talking about getting our allies to not buy from Syria.
But don't worry, you're not the only one who mis-heard him, and you're not the only one who was ready to jump on him for “being wrong.”
It turns out he was right.

(If Perry had been asked about the Cain 999 plan, he would have said: 9, 9, .......what?)
