I believe the difference is in securing the border, and allowing the border states to secure the southern border, with full federal assistance and support. Obama has left the states helpless, stymied them by regulation and strapped them with paying for national defense in defending their state. Texas has spent a fortune by itself.

Several times, Newt explained that he was strongly in favor of deportation. He gave exceptions for otherwise law-abiding citizens who have long since established family roots here.

Nobody else on stage mentioned actual deportation but Michelle Bachmann.
