All you have to do is drag the idea of cutting Medicare through Free Republic, to get a whole bunch of "conservatives" to start wailing about how they paid for it and how the Government promised them.... And if that's what Freepers think, you can imagine how the sheeple would react. Yeah, being trapped in a system causes a lot of resentment in people - no surprise. Sadly, the RINOs may know or sense something that many of us refuse to admit to ourselves.

That is a very succinct summary of the problem.
Supposedly, keeping “our” statists in power trumps everything.
I’m so sick of the GOP leadership.

Yes. I believe many here did too, but every now and then we have a pep rally indicated that Boehner is the best.....I laugh because I believe that just because he does one thing does not make him the star.

What was the reason of the election of 2010 for ? oh, yeah , to repeal ObamaCare.. Sarcasm.
To: EternalVigilance
GEeesh. It’s like the Republicans keeping putting their heads up to the guns they keep handing the Dems. Pathetic really.

next time we will have enough Tea Party congressmen to boot out the RINO leadership. Almost all of the "Tea Party Congressmen" cowered in fear before Boehner and supported some plan or other to raise the debt ceiling two and a half trillion dollars.

God I pray the Repubs get a spine and put a halt to this hideous, “We have to pass the bill so you can find out what’s in it” nightmare legislation. DEFUND! WE CAN’T AFFORD IT! Same with California’s high-speed rail... what are these psycho commies thinking?!?!

Because they don’t have the numbers—next time they will.
The Speaker is the Lord of the House, you have to lay low until you have enough support to dethrone him.

These Republicans are neither cowards nor are they stupid. They know exactly what they are doing. They believe in big government socialism just as much as their pal, Barry Soetoro, but they have to maintain the appearance of opposition for the sake of their infinitely gullible constituents.
Do you think professional wrestlers really have these dramatic feuds and are really trying to hurt each other? No, they work together to put on a show for an audience for which the wrestler can make millions of dollars.
Likewise, Republicans and Democrats put on a televised show for which they are paid millions of dollars while behind the scenes they do the bidding of their paymasters, the Globalist Banksters. CONgress has a %12 approval rating because they no longer represent the American people on any issue.

They win back the House - just to repeal Commiecare - and now they cant do it? Replacements are needed.
They won back the House based on their claim that they would cut $100 Billion in spending.
They conveniently kicked that can down the road -- 2012.
Since 2012 is also an election year and little will get done legislatively, they will probably get that can kicked into 2013 or 2014 or off the agenda indefinitely. After all, that 'promise' already served its purpose.

He’s right, they would...but only because the republicans have wimped out on the argument...They need to fight, get in print, get in front of cameras, get the word out. I know it’s difficult, given the overhwhelming majority of the media gives the Dems the biggest microphones...but if they’re that afraid, then they shouldn’t be there.
I’m done ‘sucking it up’, fed up to the hilt.

Where the hell did the GOP get it into their head that the american peole would NOT LIKE a government shutdown?? or “blame” them for it?
I dont even remember the government being shut down when Clintoon was in office, and I certainly would not ‘blame’ the GOP if it did.
In fact I would be pretty HAPPY if they shut the whole place down until they figure out how to live within a budget.

The kind of people behind Boehner are the ones who vote in Republican primaries, particularly in NH.

I remember that shutdown, and IIRC, Gingrich got blamed for it, not Clinton. [MSM hated Pubbies even then.]
It was more political than actual. They shut down 'non-essential services' but the basis of government continued to function. If you needed to order a book from the GPO, you were SOL. Otherwise, things pretty much continued to operate behind the scenes. IIRC, even the Post Office was exempt and continued to operate.

They need to be afraid of the torches and pitchforks because after 2012 they should be out of work if they don’t listen to the people that elected them then we need replacements until we get the spending under control and dethrone the progressives...

sick of the GOP leadershipYou left off the quotation marks: "leadership." You must not be from KY or OH where they believe in McC and Boehner.
