Immediately after the assassination and ever since, the right has tried to deflect any connection between its fevered Kennedy hatred and Oswalds addled psyche with the fact that the assassin had briefly defected to the Soviet Union.
Americas violent culture wars had started before JFK was shot. They were all on display in Oswalds Dallas. At least in 1963, polling showed that only 5 percent of the countrya fringesubscribed to the radical anti-government views championed by the John Birch Society and other militants of the right. These days, that fringe, whether in the form of birthers or the tea party or the hosts of Fox & Friends, gives marching orders to a major political party.
read Manchester or 11/22/63 or any other account of that time, and the vitriol that was aimed at Kennedy in life seems as immediate as today. Its as startling as that You lie! piercing the solemnity of a presidential address like a gunshotor the actual gunshots fired at the White House last week by another wretched waif. In the end, that political backdrop is what our 44th and 35th presidents may have most in common. The tragedy of the Kennedy cult is that even as it fades, the hothouse brand of American malice that stalked its hero stalks our country still.

When someone tells me that I'm anti-government because I am
a conservative I tell them I'm not anti-water just because
I don't want to drown. Too much is too much.
the real danger to Obama’s life and limb comes from Leftists who if his polls continue to drop may come to see him being more valuable to them as a martyr.
Duh! Frank, you're a moron!
As any idiot knows, Oswald killed Kennedy. Why? To impress his hero Fidel Castro!
Yes, Frank, a commie killed your hero. Progress
killed the President. LOL! Live with it!

Mr. Rich has finally slipped the bonds of reality. It’s like he was up all night desperately trying to blame any and all for the abject failure of his pluperfect marxist President Obama. Isn’t he the guy that commented on how perfect Obama’s pants were creased? I’m afraid he should seek medical help.
This proves that the moron Frank Rich can’t even write good fiction.
“Oswald handing out Fair Play For Cuba flyers...yeah, dead giveaway. He was a Goldwater boy!”
Obviously that was just misdirection to hide his true right wing roots.
But seriously only a leftist could twist the facts to blame Kennedy’s death on disapproval from the right wing instead of the USSR/Cuba loving marxist who actually pulled the trigger.
After all, it was you and me.
I like you, friend.
It is unreadable. I made it only halfway through the first page -- and there were 3 more pages.
It is flowery, indirect, and makes a million loop-de-loops without actually GOING anywhere.
Brevity, it is said, is the soul of wit..... and Frank Rich is witless.
I was 13 years old on that day, and I vividly recall how the assumption was made that the assassin had to be a right-winger, until Oswald was captured. The left has never gotten over the reality that Oswald was one of them.
Oh good, I'm glad I'm not the only kook who said a missle hit TWA 800. I was boating in Long Island Sound and I heard someone on the VHF Radio that he saw somthing around the time 800 exploded.
that fuel tanks just occasionally explode on planes and that is what happened.
wait a second...that is what happened on 9/11. It wasn't TERRORISM it was a spark from the fuel tanks!! /s
Of course, with the amount of flying I do...why hasn't it EXPLODED on my plane??
Everyone needs to read:
“Me and Lee” by Judith Vary Baker
and
“Dr. Mary’s Monkey” by Ed Haslam
and
“The Virus and the Vaccine” by Bookchin and Shumaker

I have my own theory on why JFK was assassinated, if not who was responsible for the assassination.
1) JFK had Addison’s disease, an established fact, among all his other medical problems. It is a chronic endocrine disorder in which the adrenal glands do not produce sufficient steroid hormones.
2) For years, JFK had been taking the only known treatment for Addison’s at the time, large doses of very expensive natural cortisone.
3) However, in the early 1950s, a drug company had devised a way to inexpensively synthesize cortisone. It was a new wonder drug used for all sorts of problems. But it was *mistakenly* believed that large doses of cortisone could make a person dangerously insane. Paranoid. This is not true, but it is what the medical community believed at the time.
4) In 1955, one of America’s top box office actors was James Mason. He starred in a movie called Bigger Than Life (1956), as a man with a deadly disease whose life is saved by taking cortisone. But he takes too much, and it turns him into a murderous maniac. Mason’s performance in the movie was reviewed as “chilling”.
5) This meant that not only doctors, but the public at large suddenly thought of cortisone as a dangerous drug that could drive people insane.
6) Everyone around JFK that knew he had Addison’s kept his secret, but one of the oddities of the disease is that it can, and in JFK’s case, *did* cause a significant change in the appearance of the upper body and facial skin. A change that could be seen from a good distance, and can even be seen in some of the videos of JFK at the time.
7) So put the pieces together. Any doctor could tell just by looking at JFK that he had Addison’s disease. He would also know that the only treatment for Addison’s was large doses of cortisone. And that cortisone could or would drive a person dangerously insane.
And this insane person could start a nuclear war, and had already come close during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Added up, with the “common knowledge” of the time, and there is a superb motive for the assassination of JFK.
Well afterall, it was you and me.
I've read many books about the Kennedys and I've reached the same conclusion. If old Joe had not been incapacitated, he would never have allowed RFK go after the mob. He was an old scoundrel, but a smart one. He only screwed over other people when he knew he could get away with it.
Awesome !
That’s been printed out and placed on my sheep pen wall...........:o)
Thanks !
That’s a keeper! I’ll print it tomorrow and stick it to my wall too! :-) Thanks!
As a shooter there is NO WAY I'd shoot from the "grassy knoll" with a target moving left-to-right across my field of view. I want the target effectively stationary (moving away from me). At 60-70 yards it's an easy shot.
The shot did not come from the front as many have stated, because the windshield is in the way. A shot from the rear is ideal.
What killed Kennedy: Two 160gr 6.5mm rounds from a Italian Mannlicher-Carcano rifle moving at approximately 2200 fps.
