Europe goes right after trying their failed socialist crap and yet we still have dopes in our bias media and around the country who still think socialism and the left agenda will work.
It’s insanity and we all know the definition of insanity .

He vowed to make cuts "everywhere", except for pensions Which is to say, practically no cuts at all.

If they are really “right wing” they will call for the reinstatement of Statues and other monuments honoring Franco.

now they want a conservative fix. Remember, what most of the world calls "right" is what we in the USA would call "wild-eyed leftist."

now they want a conservative fix.Wait till the conservatives actually try to cut anything, the left will be out in the streets by their tens of thousands and the public will melt and turn against the new government. We've seen this time and time again. Once the socialist disease becomes entrenched it is near impossible to get rid of it short of a total revolution followed by shock therapy to rip the parasitic remains out by the roots.

You’re seeing why America is going to end up like Greece before it gets better. They’ll keep spending and getting into debt until a default occurs.

Is the VAT in effect in Spain? Would it be feasible for some of these new governments somewhere to try to do away with that?
It seems maybe starving the beast might be a way to go..

You are so right which is why we need Cain, Bachmann or Santorum as our nominee. If we go left with Romney, Perry or Newt we will be heading down like Europe.
To: Arthurio
By “conservative” they mean the equivalent of a moderate democrat in the US.

European nation states are set up a little different than the US or Canada. You will find the central government spending money for items considered strictly local here.
There will be plenty of cuts.

I believe the marxists will take it to the streets to fight any attempt to rescue the economy. We need a strong administration and legislature to turn the economy around. Without strong majorities we will continue the downward spiral.

Actually, Zapotera had pretty much fled to the right with a lot of the stuff he'd proposed cutting ~ even had a constitutional amendment proposed that would limit GOVERNMENT BORROWING.
The party taking over has promised getting a "round toit" much faster than the guys getting kicked out.
The only middle of the road issue was about raising the retirement age from 65 to 67!
How ya' like them apples!
A middle of the road Democrat in the US would be against raising it from 62 to 63!
I don't think you can quite lay political Left/Right markers down on what just happened.
These guys want a different deal ~ that's all.
