Why I Support Newt Gingrich

I have been agnostic on the Republican primary so far, but the time for choosing has arrived.

For the reasons set forth below, I believe that the primaries will come down to Mitt Romney versus Newt Gingrich. As such, the choice is not between Newt Gingrich and some hypothetical more perfect conservative candidate, as Newt’s most vocal critics would have us believe.

I’m supporting Newt Gingrich as the most conservative Republican who is electable and most qualified for the position of President.

Paul is not Tea Party, he is nutball. Cain is very inexperienced and will continue to wilt as is Bachmann.

Gingrich is all that is left.

NAFTA was Reagan’s idea. It’s called traditional free market 19th Century Liberalism. I guess that makes Reagan a liberal.

“Okay, I’m not a Gingrich fan but I think many on FR are being a little silly towards him. He is not a RINO, that is just a stupid thing to say.

He has thirty-five years of a political career to look at. He was a very conservative Congressman from Georgia for a very long time. They don’t elect RINOS. He destroyed Jim Wright, RINOS don’t do that. He along with many others orchestrated the first Republican House majority since Eisenhower, and replaced Bob Michael who was a RINO.

He helped along with Phil Gramm and Bob Walker and others to pass the Reagan economic program in the 1980s. It was Gingrich that began to use Congressional television to nightly present the Conservative message to the country. He was very much responsible for balanced budgets, welfare reform, tax reform etc. while in the House.

Does he have baggage? Sure, but doesn’t Cain and Perry?

This is going to come down to a choice between Gingrich and Romney and to say they are both RINOs is idiotic for one thing and sitting out the election because of that belief dooms our nation to huge deficits, double digit unemployment and weak foreign policy. A high price to pay for the search for the perfect Conservative candidate, a bar that not even Ronald Reagan could have met.

It is time to direct our fire on the real enemy of the country Barry Hussein Obama”

100% correct. Newt was leading the conservative charge when Perry was still a democrat, Cain was making pizzas, and Romney was doing nothing in politics.

I think you might want to carefully re-examine how you interpreted his short delivery trying to address how much money could be saved by using new systems such as IBM offered in reducing fraud and abuse and outright criminal crimes being perpetrated within the Social Security, Medicare systems. He was simply using examples to try to drive home a point. As for his remark on cutting taxes in a way that could bolster our economy, and get some eighteen million plus back to work to help create a larger revenue stream, again his short time was used to try to simply make a point. No different then say Herman has said in short sound bites.
For the record. I have watched every debate as well as that long debate. I can't support your particular examples of where Newt screwed the pouch on those particular issues.
And I hate these debates. No one is given a chance to speak at length at to how they might consider fixing any of our nations long term ills. What can one say in short 60 second burst or 30 seconds rebuttals. The problems at hand are very complicated in their entire scope.
Time for me to hit the rack. Do have a great upcoming day.

Isn’t he the guy who crafted the Contract with America that led to the first pubbie congress in 50 years?

He certainly has his warts trying to equate him with mittens is stupid.

The question I ask is do we bet our chips on Gingrich when we know Obama has a $Billion ready for the air wars that will be the dirtiest campaign ever fought against a Republican candidate? Does Gingrich even have a team in place?

Neat is a stinking liberal, beltway RINO. If people can’t see that then they deserve Bambi for 4 more years

Nah, If I have to vote for a Rino. I am going to vote for Mitt the Mormon. Newt’s all over the place. At least Mitt has good hair.

I think I will emulate Newt. If he will share some of the big bucks he got lobbying for Fannie and Freddie with me, then I will support him. We don’t need no stinkin’ principles.

Gad, the ol' RINO "he can win!" argument. They tried that against Reagan too.

Corporations and interest groups spend big money on lobbyists and campaign contributions as a matter of self-defense.

Their major stockholders are another matter.

This article is misleading, in the sense that Gingrich can’t say he was young and irresponsible for things he did in the last few year. He said that “”rightwing social engineering,” was the biggest threat to this country less than six months ago

Yep...Gingrich's endorsement of the individual mandate for healthcare was not a "youthful indiscretion". Nor was Newt feeding at the corrupt trough of Freddie Mac. How on Earth can we run against Dodd and Frank when our nominee was part of the same hypocrisy? We cannot. Newt is a sure loser.
