Ann Coulter: Picking ‘The Most Right Wing Candidate’ In Primary Is ‘Suicidal’
Breitbart TV ^ | 11-16-11 | Breitbart TV

Posted on 11/16/2011 12:15:03 AM PST by Lazlo in PA

“Those who think ‘oh, absolutely, this is going to be 1980; we are going to run against Jimmy Carter’… and then there are those of us like me and apparently Governor Christie who think this guy is going to be tough to beat... The idea that you pick the most right-wing candidate without any concern over who can win is suicidal..."

Not Nixon - the big government RINO? Then how to you prove your mistaken theory?

Goldwater (a libertarian, not a conservative) could never win because of the Kennedy assassination so that’s a zip.

Bush and Bush - big government. Dole, please. Ford? McCain - wave the white flag.

The only one close to a conservative was Reagan and he won. Let’s do THAT again instead of making up stories about who can or cannot get elected.

The classic case to prove your point is 1960. Listen to the first debate audio only, Nixon clearly won. Add the video, and Kennedy's “charm” and “looks” carried the day.

There is also a huge but unspoken sexual element in male political candidates. Even at Bush or Gore events in 2000, dozens of women would attend any rally for either of them, just hoping to do the “dance with no steps” with one of them.

BTW, at the the public party after a Blue Angles show, the babes seriously number in the multiple hundreds.

I was liaison officer once to represent the Army (we were providing logistical support for their appearance in Rochester), after such a BA show. I showed up in my Class A greens, expecting nothing. Their maintenance officer officer asked “Are you single?” When I answered “Yes,” he just replied “Enjoy it.” (Of course, he was there in his Summer Whites.....)

It was a double-header that night and I stayed busy for weeks just from the names pushed on me that night.

War is Hell

Goldwater not a Conservative? Plleeeze. I wonder why he called his book, “The Conscienece of a Conservative.” I wonder why he is referred to as the father of the modern conservative movement.

Reagan “close” to being a Conservative? Again, Please, some rationality here.

Who do you define as a Conservative? Attila the Hun? General Bedford Forrest?

And if you don’t understand that before one can be elected, they have to be a person who can be elected, then talk to Sarah Palin, re; 2012.

A friend told him; “Three accidents, John? Two more and we’re going to make you an honorary Japanese ace!”

LOL I didn't know about the power line cutting incident. Another pilot did that in Italy much more recently. (within the last two decades)

McCain has engaged in so many perfidious activities as a Congressman and Senator I don't feel much need to mention the dark side of his service record. I don't care if others do though FWIW.

Cain or Gingrich.

Probably so. I think Cain would beat Gingrich in broad appeal and likeability when you put either one up against The Won. Frankly I think either one would make Zer0 seem petty and artificial in comparison. In the general the undecideds/moderates have a 'one or the other' choice and self preservation in dire circumstances will be a bigger factor than it has been for a long time.

Well. yeah, but I wasn’t there and don’t really know what happened there, so I wasn’t going to bring that up.

Bring what up? His service record? I meant loyalty to anything and everything subsequent to that. Party, ideology, his home state, America, Americans, AND the military. He has betrayed them all a hundred times over SINCE his days of active service.

Anyone who's listened to him for long enough will remember how his stance has changed over time from Republican in the 90's under Clinton to "Conservative" today.

So what? A lot of us were party people 20-30 years ago. If you don't remember, we had just had two terms of Reagan and then in '94 we had a group of Conservatives elected into congress. The GOP brand was something to be respected for the most part. The brand didn't get tarnished till Bush/Rove got hold of the reigns with there patently stupid Compassionate Conservatism. It woke many people up to the fact that the GOP was being turned into Rat light.

Your comment calling Rush a phony is BS because it has absolutely no context. Rush has been on the front lines since I started listening to him over 20 years ago. He is the sole person to start to call out Obummer by hoping he fails.

Beyond that the rest of your argument is rife with the typical rumors and innuendo that the KOS KIDS trade in. You are a nooby Troll and you can pound sand.

You are blaming the Forrestal fire on McCain? That is one thing he holds no responsibility for. I am far from being a fan but I would accuse him of being on the grassy knoll before I would assign him any blame beyond having the bad luck to be sitting in the Skyhawk in the line of fire.

I’m sorry, I thought you had a specific time in mind. I do agree with you wholeheartedly, then.

He probably wasn't referring to the Forrestal fire.

McCain’s Plane Crashes

You will find accounts of three incidents there other than the Forrestal fire and his being shot down over Vietnam.

My apologies, “engine failure of undetermined causes” could be old fashioned pilot error. Pilots can be pretty creative at times as I well know.

Whatever mistaken belief you and the liberal media wants to believe about Goldwater, he doesn’t count in your theory because of the assassination. LBJ was going to win no matter what.

According to your theory, Reagan was too conservative to be elected.

So, back to the point, how do you prove your theory?

Since the hyper-partisanship that has ruled for the last decade or so, it is probably impossible to get much accomplished without holding all three branches of government.

Bush had to face a Dem House and Dem Senate when he tried to reform the mortgage industry and Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as well as reform of social security and Medicare.

He couldn’t even get the Republicans to vote for these reforms when he had both Houses.

We no longer have statesmen, only politicians.

Oh, good grief. Have you listened to Cain lately? He’ a walking gaffe machine,,,or he truly is clueless. obama would obliterate him in a debate.

I'm sure everyone in the 57 states would agree with you. Especially in Asian Hawaii. And don't forget the important corpse men demographic. Obama hasn't made a single gaffe to date.

That is just from the top of my head.

Thanks.
