Only a person from the California university system could keep a straight face while saying they needed to increase tuition because they have more students. Here’s an idea.....be more efficient in the use of your resources. Gadzooks! Heresy!
Actually, it makes a LOT of sense, when you consider that they are largely stat-funded, since the portion that is state-funded is actually greater than the portion that is fixed costs.
The UC system is NOT growing at fast as demand for low-cost (state-subsidized) educations, so CSU is pressured more quickly; it’s as if UC is dumping costs over to CSU. Of course, the question is why is CSU accepting students they can’t handle.
