A former UC Davis student is suing the university, accusing the administration of ignoring his complaints that he had been hazed and sexually abused during his initiation at a campus fraternity.
Ryan Clifford, who graduated in 2010, alleges that he was punched, stripped naked, molested and forced to drink "inordinate amounts" of alcohol while pledging the Chi Delta chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi in fall 2008.
In his lawsuit filed in federal court in Sacramento, Clifford said he was targeted for a particularly harsh form of hazing because he was one of the few non-Jewish students pledging the Jewish fraternity. At a mandatory retreat at Lake Tahoe, he said, active and alumni members of the fraternity drugged him, took off his clothes and touched his penis, all while making sexual comments.
A few weeks later, fraternity members brought Clifford and other pledges to an alumnus' house and compelled them to drink alcohol, the complaint states. When Clifford refused, he was ordered into a padded vest and punched in the stomach by a member and a pledge as other members mocked him.
Upon returning to the fraternity house, Clifford's fraternity "big brother" tried to prevent him from leaving by choking him, stomping on his foot and knocking him to the floor. Clifford suffered multiple fractures in his foot that required two surgeries and resulted in a permanent limp, the complaint said.

...it's always the Jews...
I really feel like I missed out, not joining a fraternity in college. It sounds like fun.
Fraternities and sororities - the first bastion of group think, superiority complex and primitive behavior.
This ‘club’ mentality should have stopped with little boys’ tree forts and little girls’ tea parties for their dolls.
Boys and Girl Scouts’ are a better leadership example than the drunk, uncouth youth in colleges and universities.
I never really understood fraternities. I wonder if this guy had to do the “elephant walk” like a lot of new pledges? Perhaps he left out that little tidbit?
Was he forced to join a fraternity?

fraternities are so bankrupt How is it fraternal to paddle each other’s rear ends and get so drunk you could die
We never did anything like that and we even had gay members. Anything involving nudity was off-limits unless women were involved (they later hired a stripper for the pledges)
Hmmm...sounds like the Dinah Shore.
“he was one of the few non-Jewish students pledging the Jewish fraternity.”
Why join a jewish frat is you’re a non jew?
Was he forced to join a fraternity?
I did not join a fraternity because I would not subject myself to humiliation, abuse or forced alcohol consumption. There have been numerous hazing deaths and serious life-changing injuries at some imitations. I cant believe the colleges or fraternal orders allow it. But in the 70s it was, Im told, the norm.
He should be thankful he wasn’t pledging an Amish fraternity. I’ve heard horror stories of how they abuse the pledges with real pitchforks!
Hell, I have been out of school a long time, maybe I could get rich doing the same thing. I can still remember them holding me down and making me drink all that jungle juice. And damn, as a pledge I had to spend one night sleeping in the bath tub.
Help in studying and prepping for tests?
I went to college in the late 80’s and that was a common “initiation”. It was suppose to really test the pledges. You don’t want to really know what I think about it!
Still mad over getting black balled. ???? LOL, it is not for everyone, and most students do not belong. That was a joke..
Their mothers will send them Kugel.
I wonder if the author has sued somebody about her family name. What a curse to go through life as a female with that last name.
