Many of same people who are trying to push Romney on us are probably the same people who tried to push Rockefeller over Goldwater in 1964. Rockefeller was the popular governor of New York and a liberal. Goldwater, of course, was the first Pubbie candidate to define modern conservatism and make it a central point of his campaign. Romney does resemble Rockefeller in some respects. We don’t need a liberal wing of the Republican Party.

John? Pretty please, can you fix the poll, if at all possible?

Pretty please with sugar on top, John? We promise to write songs about you, name our children after you, commit your name and deeds to the annals of history, give extra donations at FReepathon time. We even promise to stop whining as much when FR goes down once in awhile.

(How'd I do, Politicalmom? Darn, I really do miss those polls a lot.)

A draft-dodging liar of ill repute.

Awww. You're so cute when you're angry . . . and right.

In my opinion, Romney is even left of Clinton, Romney would easily be the most liberal Republican president since Nixon, and his nomination would be the end of the Republican party.

You certainly won’t find me arguing against you.

Roger that. Nothing to do with his religion either. As someone else said, the problem with romney is not that he is a mormon, the problem is that he is not enough of a mormon.

It’s just so frustrating, it’s like Clinton is running for our nomination!

Bill looked that part
Bill was well educated and articulate
Bill was good in debates

So would 20=25% of Republicans support Bill if he were running for your nomination?

then why not?

Because Bill believed __________ or did ___________ ?

well... Romney believes __________ or did ___________ too!

I can’t even believe we are seriously considering nominating a flaming liberal as our REPUBLICAN nominee!

Mitt needs to go run against Obama for the Democrat nomination!

But you see, the problem is not the general election, it’s the primary. Romney will most likely win because the real conservative votes will be going all over the place unless we can narrow it down. Even then, if it comes down to Cain & Newt, that splits the vote and Romney wins. Somehow we have to finally settle on one conservative, telegraph that choice out to all the Tea Parties and stick to one candidate. It’s our only hope unless a miracle happens and Sarah runs Independent.

Where is Sarah Palin when you need her? If Romney is the nominee we will see her.

Palin said recently that "it would take something like the '64 quake to make me reconsider." I honestly believe that if she sees Romney taking a commanding lead in the primary, that she'll stand once more.

But the Insiders say the fix is in... its all ordained! Frankly, I agree with you. I just don’t know if we live in the same country any more. Time will show who is right - the elites or the people.

“Couldn’t find a photo of Romney anywhere near firearms. ...

Those things are dangerous and I stay away from them too. “

Was that last line referring to sleazeballs like Romney, or firearms?

“The Forum is more conservative than the electorate. We could very well be disappointed with the outcome.”

Starting with Reagan Republicans are generally at lot more disappointed in November when they elect ‘Moderates’, than when they elect conservatives.

That has been proven for 9 elections now since 1976. I guess we can nominate a moderate and be disappointed AGAIN if we chose not to accept history.

He simply must not be the nominee.....and if he is, you need to make sure he loses!

Why?

Learn from us Brits.....water down your conservative values by electing these phoney ‘moderate’ leaders and you will find it very hard to return to conservatism and doom yourself as a result. Like Bush, he will become the acceptable face of conservatism when in reality Romney is no conservative at all!
