A last-ditch drive ends in disappointment for Penn State, which loses to Nebraska, 17-14. Not having any timeouts crippled the offense, which completed two passes short of a first down, including one with seconds left, but couldn't stop the clock.
This is a different Saturday in State College. Immediately after McGloin's final pass fell incomplete, the Penn State crowd cheered the team's effort: the cheering grew to a roar as the two teams again met a midfield, such as they did right before the game.
Again, as occurred several times during the game, there were chants of "We love JoePa." Interviewed after the game, interim coach Tom Bradley said that what Penn State has gone through over the last week is "unprecedented in the history of college sports."

The NCAA should ban Penn State from playing football ever again.
Bama fan here too, but I gotta admit if Saban was involved in something like this, he’d be dragged out of T town, and you know it.
Observation here:
The comparison to the Catholic church covering up sexual predators( and priests doing EACH OTHER) is a valid one.
Both are respected institutions that are more about self preservation than moral decency and the law.
Both are wrong.
An established religion for going against its BASIC PRECEPTS and vows, and a University for covering up one of its own-using the University’s good name to prey on children ON University grounds!
This display at a football game didn’t have to happen at all. Loudly supporting the WRONG side in this-at a game- was hideous! What if the opposing team had made a similar display AGAINST Paterno?? What would have happened if the Nebraska team had come out with bullseyes on their rear ends?
The game should just have been about football. The Penn State people brought their opinions on CRIME into it.
I’d like to see a massive demonstration AGAINST Penn State and everyone involved at every NCAA game! Equal time, you know.
Oh-and if the Pope is found to be covering up sexual predators in the Catholic church I would gladly LEAD the group that drags HIM and every priest involved out of the Vatican and into the Atlantic ocean!
Here’s some questions you should spend some time pondering:
One last time - your man-god is a scumbag. You PSU fans are child rape apologists. The coming lawsuits, convictions and testimony that will come out are going to make you blush that you ever worshiped those cretins.
Make’em blush?
Maybe not. Don’t assume that.
There are MANY who agree with this perversity! They are OF it, either because they were victims once and have rationalized it as ‘normal’, or are victimizing others themselves and have rationalized it.
( An underlying factor is the FOOTBALL ABOVE EVERYTHING sickness that lumps otherwise decent humans in with perverts here. Something they-if they are honest- should examine)
At this point-IMO-anyone who can automatically take the side of the perpetrators and enablers in this sick, evil, scenario are members of the Sphincter Squad, Butt Buddies. I will categorize them as such forever.
There are only the victimized children OR the perverts who victimized them.
PIck a side. Live with the label.
Feel free to show me where I demonstrated any support for people who raped children. Find it, and post it. Because you'd have to be disingenuous or borderline retarded to interpret me statements in that way. Which are you?
Penn State is a University, supposed to be a center of higher learning.
Yes, I'm quite aware of that.
Had the people at the game merely kept it about the game, then this thread wouldnt be as it is now.
You're right - it would be about people like yourself criticizing the fans for totally ignoring the scandal.
You seem to be the one with all the answers
Do I? Not sure where I presented that or what would make you think that.
so I pose this question to you.... If it were your son/brother/nephew, would you feel so proud of Penn State?
I would be capable of recognizing that 1 man raped those kids, and from the facts as we know them another 5-10 people in positions of authority enabled him. As far as I am concerned, the maximum penalties allowed by law are too lenient for them. But I would further recognize that the remaining 500,000 alumni and 90,000 students have nothing whatsoever to do with it.
I would need a very limited mind indeed to conflate the two.
Would you be defending these perverts, and yes I am calling Joe P a pervert. The Head Coach doesnt know whats going on in HIS locker room? Seriously?
Show me where I've defended the perverts. Post the link, or retract the statement and apologize.
And, if the Catholics prayed for the victims at church, would you then state "The game mass should just have been about football religion. The Penn State Catholic people brought their opinions on CRIME into it."
Because that's the proper analogy with respect to the events at yesterday's game. I was actually there and spoke with people, and heard no support for what Paterno did (or more accurately, did not do). What I did see was anger at the way the trustees and media allowed this to develop. Don't confuse a few Paterno chants with support for his actions, because if you do you're getting it wrong.
He didn't let Sandusky go unpunished. He ended his career as a coach. The District Attorney, OTOH, did let him go unpunished. You know the 1998 matter was reported to and investigated by police, right?
Sandusky, btw, retained his office and access to university facilities as a retired professor, not a coach.
Football coaches don't get a say in the retirement agreements of faculty members.
One phone call from Paterno would have got Sandusky banned from the whole campus for life, and probably from all of State College borough. Instead, he was recruiting high schoolers for Paterno within the last few weeks.
“Football coaches don’t get a say in the retirement agreements of faculty members.”
Joe Pa, as you PSU fans creepily call him, was no ordinary football coach and you know it.
You actually believe that.
Instead, he was recruiting high schoolers for Paterno within the last few weeks.
Wow, an ‘educator’ in cya mode, what a surprise!
Add Iowa state to your list of fag factories. it’s a shame because they are an excellent engineering school.
NO- because religion IS about right and wrong, morals, football isn’t. The only right/wrong in a game is dictated by the rules-and sexual activity and molestation doesn’t fall under any rules of any game I know of!
And before you ask0 I would have a BIG problem praying for the PREDATORS/criminals in church. That’s wrong there, IMO. You don’t pray for evil. You don’t understand evil. You eradicate it, you cast it out.
You do not defend a thing unless you are OF it.
And those who chanted FOR Paterno have taken the wrong side in this good/evil scenario. I didn’t say everyone present chanted for him.
Anger at how things were allowed to develop??!! Things regarding WHAT? CHILD RAPE! Pedophilia! CRIME. The ‘how’ isn’t as important as the ‘what’!So those fans think it is- and that’s reasonable? Do you think it is??
I wonder if there would be all of this understanding and rationalization if the fans on the OPPOSING side had demonstrated AGAINST Paterno? What if they had brought mention of a CRIME into a game?? Nice little chants, or signs,or anything bringing the ugliness of what happened into a game?
You know and so do I. The howls of ‘unfair’ and ‘keep football out of this’ would be deafening Ok-then WHO didn’t keep IT out of football??
If it is ok for one side its ok for the other-and there are a LOT of football games in the future where public opinion can be expressed in this matter. Are you ready for that? Are you ok with that?
Ready for the stigma? Ready for the ugliness of child rape to be brought out in every football game?
Cause that’s what can happen-BECAUSE some Penn State fans CHOSE to USE football as an opportunity to support the wrong side of this.
Oh, BTW, this whole conversation is ironic because I LOATHE football!
You gotta love these people getting into mental knots over this.
One the one hand ‘Paterno IS Penn State’!!
On the other, he’s JUST a coach, he’s not responsible, he knows nothing.
So he’s a ‘god’ who is helpless and clueless.
Convenient.

~yes, excellent observation! Very convenient!
I’m talking about at the end of the game. I even went back and rewound it because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing/hearing. The crowd was chanting P-S-U (I tried to make out if it was the student section or what but couldn’t) while the players were kneeling in prayer. I know what I saw. The only reason I took notice is because the players were kneeling in prayer right behind the media talking heads who were trying to interview coaches.
