And, if the Catholics prayed for the victims at church, would you then state "The game mass should just have been about football religion. The Penn State Catholic people brought their opinions on CRIME into it."
Because that's the proper analogy with respect to the events at yesterday's game. I was actually there and spoke with people, and heard no support for what Paterno did (or more accurately, did not do). What I did see was anger at the way the trustees and media allowed this to develop. Don't confuse a few Paterno chants with support for his actions, because if you do you're getting it wrong.
NO- because religion IS about right and wrong, morals, football isn’t. The only right/wrong in a game is dictated by the rules-and sexual activity and molestation doesn’t fall under any rules of any game I know of!
And before you ask0 I would have a BIG problem praying for the PREDATORS/criminals in church. That’s wrong there, IMO. You don’t pray for evil. You don’t understand evil. You eradicate it, you cast it out.
You do not defend a thing unless you are OF it.
And those who chanted FOR Paterno have taken the wrong side in this good/evil scenario. I didn’t say everyone present chanted for him.
Anger at how things were allowed to develop??!! Things regarding WHAT? CHILD RAPE! Pedophilia! CRIME. The ‘how’ isn’t as important as the ‘what’!So those fans think it is- and that’s reasonable? Do you think it is??
I wonder if there would be all of this understanding and rationalization if the fans on the OPPOSING side had demonstrated AGAINST Paterno? What if they had brought mention of a CRIME into a game?? Nice little chants, or signs,or anything bringing the ugliness of what happened into a game?
You know and so do I. The howls of ‘unfair’ and ‘keep football out of this’ would be deafening Ok-then WHO didn’t keep IT out of football??
If it is ok for one side its ok for the other-and there are a LOT of football games in the future where public opinion can be expressed in this matter. Are you ready for that? Are you ok with that?
Ready for the stigma? Ready for the ugliness of child rape to be brought out in every football game?
Cause that’s what can happen-BECAUSE some Penn State fans CHOSE to USE football as an opportunity to support the wrong side of this.
Oh, BTW, this whole conversation is ironic because I LOATHE football!
