Nebraska 17, Penn State 14; Crowd Chants "We love JoePa."
The New York Times ^ | November 12th, 2011

A last-ditch drive ends in disappointment for Penn State, which loses to Nebraska, 17-14. Not having any timeouts crippled the offense, which completed two passes short of a first down, including one with seconds left, but couldn't stop the clock.

This is a different Saturday in State College. Immediately after McGloin's final pass fell incomplete, the Penn State crowd cheered the team's effort: the cheering grew to a roar as the two teams again met a midfield, such as they did right before the game.

Again, as occurred several times during the game, there were chants of "We love JoePa." Interviewed after the game, interim coach Tom Bradley said that what Penn State has gone through over the last week is "unprecedented in the history of college sports."

Great, another FU to the media and administration. Too bad I’m supposed to dinner and then maybe a party, so I can’t show up.

Did you know the players planned on walking the game ball to him if they won?

Just what child rape victims need: some drunken schmos at a football game wearing a blue shirts in their honor.

Now if we could just get everyone to put blue ribbon magnets on their SUVs, we could end their suffering once and for all.

Hmmm well 40 is a lot; sadly, could be even higher. But just one...just one is an outrage. What happened to these boys is one of every parent’s worst nightmares :(

That this predator was allowed to savage these boys and get away with it for so long is totally beyond my comprehension!!!!

Which proves that the players and remaining coaching staff are clueless. Jay Paterno sealed the deal today.

Misread that. Didn’t realize they were chest painters.

That school is the biggest a-hole factory on the planet.

Soooo you are now defending McCleary’s strange response with a theory????

Nope.

Yet the rest of the FReepers are uninformed idiots?!?!

Well, you do think his name is spelled McCleary. Just another example of someone misinformed.

It may be an explanation, but certainly not a defence; he could have left the program at any time if he was molested.

I'm not defending him, nor do I believe that theory. I'm just throwing it out there.

Kindly provide a link that shows Paterno went to the police. All I have seen is that he went to the AD.

U police report to the U prez typically. I find it odd that many universities have their own police.

Makes the police reports easier to control.

LOL just turned on CNN, there are 3 adoring students nearly worshipping him—he is father figure, would not be there but for him, etc; and media Jon Werthal says they are well spoken. The headline is “coping with the Penn State Scandal” so yeah, they are darned close to worshipping him...

"However Penn state is more then just football..."

Yep, Penn State is Michael Mann and another whitewash, for the money.

What’s dishonest about that assessment?

My line of attack is a caricature, but I think that is obvious.

The reasoning really is more like “The students at Penn State are stupid enough to support, idolize, and riot for someone who covered for a child molester.”

Ohio State is the same way. Probably a good thing as it would be a huge burden on the Columbus PD (already responsible for 800,000 people and 230 square miles.)

A Penn State degree may become devalued if there are less applicants, thus forcing lower quality students to be admitted.

That would reflect on Penn Staters your son’s age, but should not affect people like me who have already graduated.

Point to ponder.

Every time an event of importance/infamy happens, some idiot somewhere has to “personalize it” for their school/business/community etc. Someone gets shot in Texas, people hold a rally in New Jersey in ‘solidarity with the victim’, papers in Cleveland write about how it effects their home town etc...:”Me too” stuff for attention or profit. The key element missing is the actual event/victim that led to the display of whatever through the country.

In this case, the PR dept and a bunch of attention hound students ‘personalized’ the situation for themselves. They stand there with “LOOK AT MEEEE!!!!” attitudes, articles are written about Poor Penn State Football players having to play under duress and FR is flooded with posters whose moral compass got left on a shower floor in Penn State’s gym.

But to hell with the kids, Its not rape-rape-rape, there’s a football game to play....and BTW, see? I care too!!!!

Nauseating.

I don’t see how they’re clueless.

They just don’t care what people think about them.

Very good observation. Something sure to be lost on all the “omnipotents” here on FR.
