ATLANTA, Ga. - Herman Cain, whose campaign could use some redemption in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal, told a crowd of young Republicans on Saturday that God convinced him to run for president and that he "prayed and prayed and prayed" about it.
The Republican contender made no mention of the allegations from former subordinates at the National Restaurant Association. But his comments here were accented with more than the usual references to his faith and his calling to politics.
"I prayed and prayed and prayed. I'm a man of faith, I had to do a lot of praying for this one, more praying than I'd ever done before in my life," Cain told a crowd of more than 100 at the Young Republican National Federation, an event hosted by the Georgia Young Republicans at the Westin Peachtree Plaza. "And when I finally realized that it was God saying that this is what I needed to do, I was like Moses: 'You've got the wrong man, Lord. Are you sure?'"
Once he made the decision to run, the former chief executive of Godfather's Pizza said, "I did not look back. And one of the misperceptions that some people have (is) that I'm not in this to win it. I'm in this to win it, or I wouldn't be in it! I'm not going anywhere!"
Cain has repeatedly said in recent days he will stay in the race in spite of the swirl of accusations that have tarnished his campaign and halted his upward momentum in national polls. Four women who worked at the NRA claim that Cain sexually harassed them, and one of them, Sharon Bialek of Chicago, said he roughly grabbed her in a parked car in 1997 and propositioned her for sex.
With a Republican debate focused on foreign policy on tap for Saturday evening, Cain talked about the need to replace a "foggy foreign policy" with a reincarnation of the Reagan doctrine of "peace through strength and clarity." He also said he would "stop giving money to our enemies."
The debate among the eight major Republican candidates is at 8 p.m. and is hosted by National Journal and CBS News.
dubious?
And don't forget those Greek temple columns (which are probably mouldering in some Hollywood warehouse by now).
Cheers!
Perry? Glee Club?
Are you saying he played wide receiver at Penn State and didn't tell anyone?
Cheers!
I got pretty hot that day. I don’t know whether he or she fits, nor do I care. The Perrybots are all over the top in their attacks on anyone who doesn’t toe their line. The word obsessive comes to mind...
Bale or eat?
Cheers!
Beam, own eye...
It comes in Braille?
Cheers!
BTW, I’m downloading a trial of Photoshop CS5 design premium. I found some templates online that need editing (of text) and there’s nothing else out there that can edit the files. I’ll get them edited then uninstall the program. There’s no way I can afford the prices they seem to demand. It’s absurd.
Yes. I know that the Lord speaks to people, but I think many people hear what they want to hear.
Often what we receive is reproof. And it is unmistakable. You know what the Bible says about it and you did, or were thinking of doing, something different. It comes with the force of enlightenment and cannot be denied. Often it is something shown to you, rather than spoken in words.
I have heard many claims of things spoken in words that were transparently self-serving.
I am not judging Cain, just saying I am dubious.
I see what you did there ;)
You are wrong here. If you are talking about blaming Perry for the leak. If false accusations are made against you, it does not solve the problem to make unfounded accusations aganst someone else.
I find it ‘odd’ that many of them are the same people calling my fellow Palinistas and I “cultists”...Considering their brand of ‘loyalty’ to the Gov., methinks they doth project a bunch.
Norm, thanks for the ping.
Looks like N.I.T. wit rode the lightning.
Soon, we will have a new Freeper song:
“All our ex’s came from Texas”
I gave up at PS 4 some years ago. It was like $3-400 then. Now it’s what $700 or so?
Music software is insane as well. One of the big ‘brands’ is called Waves. They do editing/sound manipulation stuff for broadcast/music/film etc. They just cut all their prices in half. Their top ‘suite’ now goes for around $5,000-$10,000 depending on platform.
Thank God for alternatives with similar quality.
No doubt. Does seem to be a trend building...can’t imagine what the pattern could be....
hahaha to funny and whos wife votes with the democrats? LMAO
Wilson spewed the false (although he thought it was true) info at a press conference. Pretty hard to wiggle out of that.
It’s over $800 now. I found I can get a stripped-down version for $200, but that’s still to much for the use I’d put to it. I’ve done some music conversions, LP to CD, and have found Audacity all I really need. And it’s free. But my old tower had its video card go south, and laptop line inputs aren’t stereo so...
But I recently found an album online that I’ve wanted for a long time. So I bought it, and have been searching around for a graphics card. However I found a USB audio module at Best Buy for less than a graphic card. I can hook up my turntable to my laptop through a USB slot and channel the stereo that way. It comes with software as well. I’m waiting for it to arrive, and I’ll have some fun.
They take the term ‘cultist’ to the next dimension. I was waiting for Sarah to declare, maintaining an interest in Cain the while. But when she made her decision I gave Cain that loyalty. I’ve decided to keep my presence on these threads to a minimum. I don’t need the aggravation. I came here being called in for the ZOT. Then I saw your posts and decided to comment.
Paintshop’s close to being downloaded. Once it’s installed it’s back to football. The Pack isn’t playing until tomorrow night so I’m between the TV and here.
