PSU is a great community.

If PSU was a "great community", they wouldn't all be focused on a football game today. They'd say "college football is just a game that is supposed to be an adjunct to a higher education, and not an end in and of itself.

If PSU was a "great community", they would recognize that it was the very power of that college, "amateur" football program that played a critical role in how pedophilia (an individual problem) was allowed to grow into serial, wholesale violation of dozens of little boys. The only reason that "amateur" program has any power is because the PSU COMMUNITY granted it that power!

If PSU was a "great community", they would recognize that they - now that they are aware of SOME of the facts of the situation - are putting the sin of pride over the pursuit of justice. Just look at your beloved stadium today - full of fans! Full of fans of a program that - unbeknownst to them last week, but now fully aware this week - was committing atrocities to children in trouble!

If PSU was a "great community", they would be willing to walk away from a game, and find an alternative way to honor the senior players who (most probably) had nothing to do with these atrocities.

The fact they can't walk away shows a deep disorder in the Penn State University community. I won't argue that the same disorder exists elsewhere , but a disorder it definitely is.

I went to the Penn State facebook page,and either no student has read any of the Grand Jury's report,or they are so stupefied and imbued by the glowing halo of Paterno that they can't think for themselves. REALLY???
You have a guy that actually SEES the RAPE of a 10-year-old CHILD by a serial pedophile and chooses to WALK AWAY??? And the student reaction to such a horrendous act is to RIOT in the STREETS when the one person with power and influence simply does NOTHING,and is FIRED due to his lack of action?I couldn't get over some of the comments on facebook about this..."WE ARE PENN STATE!" "We will overcome this (stumble in the bushes).." Blah-blah-blah.
They act like this was a single act of a single person and we should just get over it because it's all about FOOTBALL.
Yeah,i'd be REAL proud of an institution that sees no problem whatsoever with covering up the wholesale sexual abuse of innocent children,and deifying those who could have put a stop to it by standing up and doing the right thing,but instead turned a blind eye to it for years.
