Before you bash McQueary, consider that he is the only witness the prosecution has to Sandusky raping anyone, other than the victims. Without him, it’s “he said...he said,” and it’s frightened boys vs. a powerful, well-connected adult. McQ did report the crime, he did testify before the grand jury. It’s not his fault that the higher-ups went into coverup mode to protect the university.

According to a local sports talk show host (who actually broke this story six months ago), this goes way up. Think about it, a DA disappeared along with his computer's hard drive. He was just recently declared legally dead even though a body has never been discovered. What was McQueary threatened with? If these monsters can make a DA disappear, what can they do to others? It's still not right, I know, I'm just throwing this frightening idea out there.

... he managed to get a coaching position. If he had not kept quiet his PSU career was over.

Nope, not bashing McQueary. I know what it’s like to witness something or, in my case be a victim, and in the position of remaining quiet for my own well being.

The “higher-ups” seem to be in major CYA mode now.

Some believe McQueary has “whistle-blower” protections that may prevent the university from taking stronger actions against him. He was an underling that took up the matter with his boss. I am not sure this is a legitimate use of whistle-blower laws but I can see where it is enough to cause PSU to act cautiously.

Oh please, spare me the faux compassion. McCreary, younger and at least as big as Sandusky, simply walked away. He allowed the rape to continue because his first instinct was to protect the institution—not the kid being molested. He absolutely did not do the right thing—at all.

I’m Penn State class of 1965.

I’ve watched a school of which I was proud lose its soul on the Altar of Karl Marx.

Good point!!! Also, the prosecutors want more of the molested youngsters to come forward but the backlash against McQueary is probably discouraging those youngsters from coming forward. I'm sure each is thinking, "If an adult like McQueary isn't safe as a witness then I will never be safe if I come forward".

BS. Telling Coach Paterno and then clamming up about the cover-up because you got a promotion is not reporting the crime.
