Mike McQueary, the assistant Nittany Lions coach who told a grand jury that in 2002 he saw former coach Jerry Sandusky sexually assault a young boy, has been placed on administrative leave. The move was announced by Penn State Interim President Rod Erickson at a news conference that began at 4 p.m.

Well, that probably would have turned out better than what happened.

In fact, the radio host who broke this story months ago is now saying he is getting information that say that is exactly what was happening:

Geez—Whatayou know? I had not heard that info was already out there. I was simply following the logic of why Sandusky remained attached to PSU after he was a known pedophile. There could be only one conclusion.

Another obvious conclusion is that Penn State continues covering up. School officers, faculty, too many students and possibly too many alumni are utterly devoid of morality.

If I were associated with Penn State at University Park, or any of the satelite campuses, I would be demonstrating and asking “where’s the morality?”. Instead we see a bunch of mush headed and propagandized students rioting and destroying property downtown. All in the name of supporting a pedopile enabler—Paterno.

Been thinking about Paterno. There is no way he could not have known what was going on after the 1998 incident when Sandusky “retired” with emeritus status. I include the very great possibility that Sandusky was pimping the kids to big PSU donars. Maybe even to the big cahuna himself in Old Main.

Sandusky used Penn State football facilities for his foundation and abusing the kids the foundation was supposed to be helping.

Paterno must have bumped into Sandusky occasionally and Sandusky was attending PSU regualar season and bowl games with young boys.

A moral adult person would question the behavior. Given what Paterno knew about Sandusky the bells should have been ringing. Especially in light of what appears to be an epidemic of child abuse in America and the world today.

Joe is up to his eyeballs in this scandal and should be charged as an accessory.

I’m confident Joe and all those who’ve participated in and enabled Sandusky’s perversion are not sleeping well these days. Without a doubt Sandusky will rat them all out for leniency. He’s the key to identifying all the victims, who knew about his activities and those to whom he may have pimped out boys. In the Grand Jury report Sandusky’s wife is said to have tried to contact one of the boy’s families—prior to the grand jury convening. Sandusky was trying to do the same. It appears she may be complicit in this as well. The Sanduskys had no biological children. They adopted. I wonder if they were abused as well.

It just gets dirtier and dirtier.

Bingo! I would not doubt that Barny Frank partook of boys.

Sandusky used Penn State football facilities for his foundation and abusing the kids the foundation was supposed to be helping

This enterprise was financed by donors and if the children were placed by the Courts, the Child Protective Services and Family Courts were probably complicant also, because, in this day and age, nothing remains secret for long. And they would have been at least a sniff of what was happening.

Paterno must have bumped into Sandusky occasionally and Sandusky was attending PSU regualar season and bowl games with young boys.

As long as they were associated and the closeness of thessociation, common sense would tell one that Paterno at least had an inkling that something was not kosher.

Paterno must have bumped into Sandusky occasionally and Sandusky was attending PSU regualar season and bowl games with young boys.

AMEN!

I would normally say to look for Sandusky to suffer the same fate as the D.D.But in today's moral climate of "tolerance" for deviant acts, particular sex acts, he will probably idolized. In the Grand Jury report Sandusky’s wife is said to have tried to contact one of the boy’s families—prior to the grand jury convening. Sandusky was trying to do the same. It appears she may be complicit in this as well.

One cannot be as close as a man and wife, particularly the years they were married, and hide secrets of this enormancy from each other. Again, common sense would tell one that she knew. And for reasons known only to her, she chose, through her silence, to become part of it.

The Sanduskys had no biological children. They adopted. I wonder if they were abused as well.

That does not excuse their conduct. However, they may not thought they did anything wrong. After all, they probably did not read the Bible,or practice the 10 Commandants. And godness knows, they have a lot of support from the future leaders of this Nation, a/k/a college students and alumni.

IMHO, it’s way too early for too much conjecture.

I can see how the scenario could be played out in multiple variations, each having one person very criminal and all the others as somewhat patsy’s.

For example: What if...
Scenario1:
McQ was the actual homosexual rapist, seen by Sandusky, knew he had been seen, then went to Paterno with his hypothetical,..”what if somebody witnessed a senior coach committing a crime of a sexual nature in the team showers?”,..playing the scenario to measure Paterno’s response and meanwhile leveraging a cleverly veiled extortion...

Scenario2:
Sandusky was the rapist, McQ also gay, used the event to extort Paterno for employment at the time. Maybe that extortion has continued. Paterno is now 84 and up to retire,...maybe McQ was extorting a higher position and denied,...now he resurrects the event with other authorities, while nobody else has motive to report the former extortion....

Scenario3:
Paterno is a PSU Godfather with homosexual inklings. Sets up either McQ or Sandusky for a fall, while the other continues the empire.

Scenario4:
Paterno is innocent, being set up by gay leaning PSU administrators to forcibly retire him, while avoiding accountability of their move, while maintaining a younger mid-generation gay power structure.

Scenario5:
Paterno is a PSU Godfather, harboring Sandusky as a gay recruiting machine to win favor from gay power structures in the shadows, with extortion and blackmail leverage available with plausible deniability. McQ has suspicions over the years and observes the rape. Pieces things together, but then realizes if he doesn’t act, he could be made a fall guy. So he tries to leverage an extortion to keep a job with Paterno, trumping Sandusky. Paterno honors the play to keep both Sandusky and McQ in check with one another, while not risking outside exposure. Situation resurrects itself as Paterno’s retirement becomes more inevitable. Multiple interests involved to maneuver in a power vacuum from insiders and outsiders and academic administration players.

etc

There must be some Hollywood writers just going into overload on this whole episode. One could write an entire TV season, one show per week, same actors, different plot per episode, and have an already established fan base.

I have to admit to still being quite stunned over this whole fiasco. Though in many ways tending to cynicism after 56yrs on this earth, I had held Joe in high regard, having seen the program's apparent integrity holding up well over the years.

This whole thing has been the very literal and figurative definition of a clusterf**k, and the vast bulk of the facts will take months to surface. And though there's been no doubt in my mind from day one as to the world-class creepiness of that Spanier slug (on several levels), the PSU football program has always seemed to be about as good as it gets in big-time college athletics.

It does, in retrospect, strain credulity to imagine that all this went on for so long without Joe's having had at least some inkling of trouble. But having said that, and with the exception of the degenerate Sandusky himself, I'm not rushing to judgement re all the peripheral actors until all the facts come to light.

Sue Paterno must be devastated about this criminal tragedy. And the poor kids/players, most/all of whom surely knew nothing about the perversions going on around them, will undeservedly carry the stigma of it all for a very long time, if not for the rest of their lives.

It all still seems somehow unreal to me. I watched or listened to most of their games when I had the chance, but never went to one even while a student there (got that craziness out of my system many years ago at the U of Colorado ;-)

With the downward plunge of your country since the communists conned their way into power in '08, this is a straw that seems almost too much for the ol' camel to bear.

I'll also admit to having entertained the question, while driving to the airport in Scranton yesterday afternoon, whether the huge donations to the school, specifically those funding the new wing of Pattee (the library, for those unfamiliar), were motivated by true philanthropy or residual guilt ?

And that's the poison of this that will live on long after the guilty have been dealt with by the courts and/or the NCAA.

Maybe my vision is being misted by the rose-colored perspective of near twenty years' absence, but I can only hope that the good people at PSU - and there tens of thousands of them ! - can eventually erase this hideous, shameful stain and earn back it's place as one of the leading institutions of higher learning in our nation.

I did not think about the courts being complicit. Thanks for the incite.

University Park, State College and Center County as a whole—even today, has a small population once the students are stripped out. Everyone more or less knows everyone’s business. Sandusky appears to have been fairly open and/or careless with what he was doing. Scandalous and deviant behavior of this duration and magnitude could not have remained hidden. Many of those folks know what was going or have a good inkling about what was going on. I bet many of them go to church, too. In the end, when it counted, they abandoned whatever morals they had—and the kids—to keep Penn State “pure”.

There are more components to this outrage yet to come. I’m sure.

But looking ahead to how to fix Penn State I’m not encouraged. The common denomintor here is leftist demrats and Marxism. Two sides of the same coin. Pennsylvania is a leftist demrat state run by leftist demrats. Penn State will not be fixed by the people with the power to do it.

I saw him in 2010 at our 45th reunion. Fairly up close and at a distance. I, too, thought there was something off about the man. It was his mannerisms that attracted my attention. Especially after he removed the lion head—he was disguised the Nittany Lion costume. He was still in the suit which he was trying to adjust to cover up his undershirt. Reminded of a woman fussing with her blouse. Then I remembered when he was circulating around the luncheon hall in the full costume he would skip now and then. His skips were feminine. I thought a female student was in the costume. Turns out it was Spanier.
