Liberals have a smaller amygdala on MRI’s of their brain. The amygdala is vital to “reading” others, and perceiving threats in others. Humans with amygdala lesions are found to judge untrustowthy and threatening faces approachable.
Oddly enough, monkeys with damaged amygdalas become passive and docile, cannot judge threat, and mate promiscuously, even with inappropriate partners and objects.
