Business Insider: Herman Cain Was The Luckiest Guy In America Last Night
Business Insider ^ | 11/10/2011 | Grace Wyler

Posted on 11/10/2011 9:07:59 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Herman Cain's presidential campaign had basically been left for dead when the 2012 Republican presidential candidates took the debate stage in Michigan Wednesday. Sexual harassment accusations had plagued his campaign for nearly two weeks, and his deny-to-the-death strategy was not going as planned.

But divine providence stepped in on Cain's behalf tonight, in the form of Rick Perry. The Texas Governor's spectacular meltdown on stage at the debate did what many in the media had believed impossible — divert the spotlight away from the Cain affair and on to the embarrassing shortcomings of a lower-tier candidate, as reporters gleefully hopped off the Cain Train to start writing Perry campaign obits.

Even Cain's reference to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi as "Princess Nancy" — a poor choice considering the circumstances — could detract from the morbid fascination with Perry's epic collapse. By the end of the debate, it was clear that the video of Perry forgetting the name of one of the federal agencies he wants to get rid of — and desperately looking to Ron Paul for help — is going to dominate the news cycle for the next 48 hours or so. That's just long enough for everyone to forget what Cain may or may not have done at the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.

People were already starting to lose interest in the Cain sexual harassment story, even before tonight's debate. Republican voters don't seem too concerned with the allegations — if anything, support for Cain appears to have coalesced around what many conservatives see as a liberal political hit job to destroy Cain's campaign. The debate audience almost chased CNBC moderator Maria Bartiromo offstage tonight when she so much as mentioned Cain's character.

What a steaming pantload that was. Herman Cain succeeded in defending himself against the leftist moderator questions. And he did well to survive this ‘scandal’ long before Perry made a fool of himself.

The Perry answer was hard to watch, but it could have been much worse. He could have had a larger audience on a network channel, and could have vapor locked on a question asking him if he could name a single thing he's read lately. (Think Sarah Palin)

Wow, BI really exposes itself in this article as a clueless propaganda outlet

Cain raised $1.26 million for his Iowa Fun during the 9 day smear job. He wanted to raise $999,000. He blew thur that goal 1 full day ahead of schedule.

The notion that Cain campaign was "left for dead" indicates this author has NO interest in facts.

Granted, a small number of Americans were watching. But the rest are hearing about it today as it's made headlines at and in nearly every major news source.

One needn't have been watching live to know Perry bombed big yet again.

Let’s see - enormous support, polling, fundraising AFTER the event, having the NRA confirm Cain’s side of events on Friday, watching these two women’s stories fall apart, hiring L. Lin Wood who is a bulldog legal attorney AND passing a lie detector software...

But it was the DEBATE that saved Cain.

Whatever!

I take it Grace doesn't look at current polling data.

lol!

Actually, it was Perry bombing at the debate that saved Cain, or so says the leftist media.

Its somebody's tool. The articles tend all in the same direction and have very little to do with business.

In one phrase, Princess Nancy, Cain defined exactly what Pelosi think she is:

Pelosi thinks she is the government and we are irrelevant.

This is the best single reason to support Cain...

Abraham Lincoln took notice of this man in the west, a man who fought, and when those jealous of Grant's success and recognition tried to curb his advancement, claiming Grant had been drinking, and calling for his removal from command (vicious rumours mostly fueled by Grant's rivals), President Lincoln flatly stated,

"I cannot spare this man! He fights!".

This is why Cain is so popular, he will fight for we the people.

We are in a civil war just with out shooting.

Cain has got my back. So Cain has got my vote.

Lost me at the opening sentences...

What planet are these folks on? What are they drinking/taking/smoking, etc?

This is actually worse for Perry than having a national audience on a network channel. Because if it had been a larger audience watching the entire debate, the audience would have seen Perry do well on some answers. But in the era of “social media”, the video of Perry’s brain-cramp will go viral, and that will be the ONLY thing millions of people will see of Perry’s debate performance.

So now we have an Alzheimer’s moment on viral video, and a Drunk Speech on viral video. Poor Perry.

It is a uber liberal financial site. They are also masters at SEO and trending all designed to sell their ads.

They like being provocative to get more hits.

Cain was smart. He had only to remember one answer for every question - 999. Perry had to remember 3 things. Bring back the smoke filled room for picking the candidate.

Great analogy. Thanks for posting this. The major difference being Grant did drink. But it was never proven it was a major problem for him. There was one notable, recorded, spree during his years in command of an army. And it’s said his chief of staff was instrumental in keeping him from the bottle. But there were also long periods of abstinence as well that contradict a serious addiction.

With Cain we have no such evidence of any issues or problems. It’s all hearsay with the accusers being proven to be self-promoting cons.

Business insider is full of it!

They defended Clinton, Edawards, Gore, Kennedy and Weiner....

However, when it’s a conservative... (with complete B.S.) oh yeap he’s guilty!

Their far left wing doubble standards bias is so obvious to any objective person.

Cain has benefited BIG TIME by conservatives like me rallying to his defense. I’ll be happy when all this sexual harassment junk is over with so I can begin pointing out Cain short comings. But as long as he is on point in our battle with the Marxist media I am forced to defend him and not criticize him.

Since Palin isn’t running it hardly matters what she said in an interview years ago and she was hardly the reason we lost the last election.

I thought Paul had a really good night. Cain was OK, but no depth. But I did love the an the other two things wrong are “Dodd and Frank”, lol, great line. Newt was good as usual. Poor Perry, he really should save himself the enbarassment and skip the rest of the debates. Speaking of debates, these 60 seconds to due health care just are not getting the job done. Hope the format changes soon. Now about we do top tier (Romney, Cain, Newt, Paul) and second tier (everyone else) debates with more time to answer?
