I work in a radio station, it was a mess.

For a week now the station attorney has been forwarding us emails from the FCC about this test, and I am sure billed us $60 for each email that he sent. I had two station engineers in the studio that insisted they were prepared for this stupid test. At 2pm, the engineers did not have the right channel open and started pushing buttons. Then finally we got the tone...then silence.

Thank goodness the board operator last night went online and read what was supposed to occur. She opened the mike, read the silly prepared text from the FCC and we were done. Great, our lowest paid employee was the only one that knew what to do.

I can’t tell you how much time we wasted on this.

Timewaste AND a total epic fustercluck.

And this was a prepared-for situation.

In a real emergency, eat your neighbor, because no help is coming.

In fact, it’s my tagline.

Ditto. I had to call the NAB to figure it all out as the FCC “EAS Handbook” and e-mails were very unclear. We made it through the test with a lot of silence too.
