It's worse than that. Sociopaths can pass lie detector tests with no problem because their vitals don't change at all while they are lying their ass off. They'll just accuse Cain of being a sociopath.

Lie detector tests have variable validity. They can be useful but not conclusive. However, volunteering for one is not characteristic of a guilty man.
