About 50 minutes before it was about to begin, PSU administrators canceled Joe Paterno's weekly news conference Tuesday.
Penn State administrators have canceled Joe Paterno's weekly news conference in which he was expected to field questions about a sex abuse scandal involving a former assistant coach.
Paterno's son Scott tells The Associated Press on Tuesday that the decision was made by President Graham Spanier's office.
Scott Paterno says his father was disappointed and was prepared to take questions about the scandal as well as the upcoming game against Nebraska.
Rocked by an alleged child sex abuse scandal, Penn State issued a statement late Monday saying that Paterno will only answer questions about football Tuesday during his regularly scheduled press conference.

There is a case to be made that society, politics and government have all become corrupted. Some claim it is about left or right, but I believe it is about cronyism, money and coverup. Penn State is no different. Until the heads literally roll starting at the very top, and they lose everything, this is not going to change.
The way it typically works is that heads roll at the bottom and the top collects their platinum parachutes. The top walks out the door unscathed with millions, while others of lesser import get charged. That’s what I’ve seen and I don’t like what I see.
He stated last week he thought he could do 2 or 3 more years.
I just posted a thread. The 1998 District Attorney covering the case went missing and presumed dead.

I think it’s strange that McQueary reacted by telephoning his father after witnessing the shower incident. But I get the feeling that McQueary, McQueary’s father, and Paterno were just passing the buck. Each one simply told somebody else, to let that person then decide whether or not to notify the police, or to keep the information in-house.
Maybe there is a perverted “loyalty” within the football program that made them act this way. Or maybe they were scared of the politically-incorrect aspect of exposing a homosexual pedophile within the university community. (I wonder if it would have been handled differently if Sandusky had been seen sodomizing a 10-yr old GIRL?)
You don’t have to be the eyewitness of such a serious crime to be the first one to report it to the police. Paterno could have, and I believe SHOULD have, immediately given the available information to a law enforcement agency. It sounds like Paterno knew that McQueary was the eyewitness to a sex crime involving a 10-yr old victim, and knew that Sandusky was the suspect. That’s enough to start an investigation. The Grand Jury indictment is curiously vague about what McQueary told Paterno on Saturday morning. But I bet the information and circumstances were enough to make a reasonable person feel that the police should be notified.
The statements given recently by university officials makes it sound like a big cover-up.
McQueary was just a graduate assistant. He was a kid. Paterno is a legend, and Sandusky is the legend’s protege. He probably had no clue what to do. I think calling your father in that situation is a logical response. “Dad... you can’t believe what I saw!! What do I do??”
Uh. Twenty-Eight year old kid, former starting quarterback for PSU ...
He knew about the 1998 police investigation when Sandusky molested another boy in Joe's shower room.
Yep. Did his job. Did his job in 1998 and kept quiet and allowed Sandusky to keep raping kids in Joe's shower room. Did his job in 2002. Kept quiet and allowed Sandusky to keep raping kids in Joe's shower room. Everyone in Joe's staff knew about Sandusky all the way down to the janitors but Joe did his job keeping everyone afraid of saying anything for fear of losing their jobs. Good ol' Joe. He did his job. He did his part to abet the coverup and the continued raping of kids.
Joe’s shower room is in his house.
Additionally, if you are sure that Paterno knew about the 1998 investigation, you had better let the grand jury know about it. Paterno claims to have no knowledge of it and neither does the University. Whatever you know that confirms this, please share it.
For f***’s sake, do we have to start this again? Why must you go off the rails all the time making wild allegations that are simply not true?
1. Anything to keep Sandusky out of Joe's shower room AND anything to ensure that their was followup to stop Sandusky and ensure that there was care for the victims. He did nothing of the sort. The continued raping by Sandusky is on his shoulders also.
If you are going to post BS I am going to counter with reality. Joe Knew. Joe Knew in 1998. Spanier knew in 1998. They all knew in 1998. Second Mile knew in 1998. Nobody stopped Sandusky then, nobody stopped him in 2000, nobody stopped him in 2002.
BS. The university absolutely did know about it. Get your facts straight and stop throwing bs up hoping something will stick.
Paterno has a very low salary compared to other head coaches.
He deserves every cent:
Florida 37 PSU 24
Alabama 24 PSU 3
Absolutely. PSU attorney Courtney reviewed the Child Services report. I am sure he reviewed the university police report. I would bet that he had personal conversations with then DA Gricar who later dismissed the case.
It’s funny that you think he makes too much money.
The guy has been underpaid his whole career, and showing that he lost two games last year means virtually nothing.
You just have an agenda.
