The best thing Gingrich can do to help himself — as a candidate, as an American, and as a human being with self-respect — is come to the strong defense of Herman Cain against the lying conspiracy of the media and its professional and contract whores.

Defending allegations of someone else is pretty risky. Lotsa folks defended Bubba...Ah...but for a little blue dress.

I disagree. Gingrich has helped Cain. He gave him a free education with the debate last week, and he has been the only one of the candidates to purposely refrain from attacking other R’s.

To come to his defense however, is to become an accomplice after the fact should any of the allegations be proven true. In short, Gingrich has no first hand knowledge of anything that happened, and if he defends Cain, then if they can take Cain down, they get a two-fer and take Gingrich with him. Should that happen, we would get Romney by default.

By staying out of the fray, Gingrich can still be supportive of Cain without being brought down by the attacks himself. Should the attacks succeed, Gingrich wins as the anti-Romney. Should the attacks fail, he has not only avoided hurting Cain, he actually helped him and for that he should get our gratitude.
