That one felt bigger here in south OKC than yesterdays.
The New Madrid fault line is NOT in the Oklahoma area. It covers 7 states, one of which I reside in Tn.
Oldplayer
Was there just another one?
Just now?
Actually, the fult line is more shallow here, so you will feel it more.
Yep, given the fact most of their their building codes are not up to earthquake standards...Lots of masonry too in that part of the country, with is not good in a quake.
Ya know not much if any S/wave signature....this morning’s though weaker of a quake had one....weird.
I got a tweet saying there is lots of damage in Lincoln County so whoever lives in that area maybe can let us know how bad the damage is
My daughter tells me there was some damage at St. Gregorys University in Shawnee. I believe she was talking about Benedictine Hall.
Just read how the quake lasted 45 seconds..that in quake time is pretty long..been through these things, it feels like it lasts forever. Hope everything is Ok with your daughter, she must have been terrified
Were you in the Whittier Narrows Quake?
Yeah I was here, born and raised in SoCal..I just dont remember the quake since I was so young then..but I do remember the quake in Big Bear, the Northridge quake and of course the quake a few years ago that struck the Cali/Mexico border, felt that one pretty good too
Thank God she is Ok

Update: Oklahoma earthquake collapses chimneys and walls, buckles roads in Lincoln County
So she is right, lots of damage being reported. Quakes of this size, its always better for it to happen in the middle of the night(Even though its more scary to happen at night) but the benefit is, less people out on the roads, less possibility of people getting injured. If the Northridge quake that happened here had happened at 4:31PM instead of AM, the death toll would have been much much higher
I had forgotten about Big Bear. We had a home at Lake Arrowhead.
If anyone in that area is familiar with Highway 62, apparently its buckled
Yep, 1992, I remember that one well. I remember standing up while the ground was shaking. Felt it here on the westside pretty good, but Northridge, for me that was the big one, I’ll never forget it.
“I just felt the floor bounce under my feet here is SE Ohio. Not badly more like a heavy truck going by but no truck?”
I couldn’t tell across the river from you (NE KY)but I live next to train tracks, and when they are coupling or a heavy one runs by here I have to hold on to my Pepsi to keep it from walking off the table! LOL!
I know what’s going on in OK. TX has finally figured out a way to secede from the union, they are trying to blow the northern border and separate from North America! LOL!
