Several years ago there was a reenactment of the Lincoln/Douglas debates i think it was on PBS
It was really interesting...
They used the notes taken by reporters etc at the time for most of the script...
It ran over several nights...
They were outside in I think the same town or towns that Lincoln/Douglas had been...
One of the debates was in Freeport. Anyone who wanted to take part in the debates had to wear a centennial style outfit.
A man from our town did Lincoln.
