I’m not in that situation now. Having been there, though, it doesn’t make any sense until there IS a job or a very good possibility of a job.

A friend’s husband recently had to move to another state to find a job. It took more than a year to sell their house. It cost them an arm and a let to keep him in an apartment and the mortgage on the house.

Start looking in Texas, my friend. If you have marketable skills of any kind, you’ll probably find something here.

My wife and I sold our house and moved out here from California in late 2005. It wasn’t easy leaving my home state, and my entire extended family. I also left a hard-won niche in the local business community that my wife and I broke our asses for ten long years to earn.

Starting over in a new state wasn’t easy, but let me tell you, it was worth every ounce of effort it took to make it happen.
