Republican 2012 presidential candidates Republican 2012 presidential candidates Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich met in a Lincoln-Douglas style debate on current economic and social issues facing the U.S.
Newt Gingrich was a U.S. congressman from Georgia and SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE from 1995 to 1999. I do not know where he was born or where he grew up...

I said defined contribution in my post. I don’t think Cain is shaky on policy knowledge, if it is something he cares about. He certainly is capable of understanding things.
I believe, Johnnie, that this thread is open to everyone unless I’m told different.
I know it’s a Cain/Newt party but unless martial law has been passed, we are all free to comment.
I share your fundamental concern over Newt. However, I don’t see any electable candidates who are less statist than Newt. In my dreams, Paul would have a chance. But barring him...Newt’s the man.
Cain seems like a nice guy, but he simply doesn’t have the experience. Gingrich always has an instant, detailed response- no need to prevaricate- because he already has intimate familiarity with almost any issue.
I could see Newt/Cain; Newt-Obama and Cain-Biden seem like pretty natural debate matchups. On the other hand, I would be nervous about Cain-Obama. Cain’s only chance would be his charm.
You missed their points...the idea is to occupy the space of unemployment with more than sitting on your butt eating bon bons.
I’ve heard just about every reason for not getting a job....mostly people thinking they can’t work another job outside their field....that’s the stumbling block they refuse to get over.
I know people in the tech field who pumped gas for 6 months...they used the contacts there and actually found better work then hoped for...another waited tables...and another worked retail...all highly skilled workers who though unemeployed took part-time jobs while they were looking...I was one of them ...and also took college courses to up my skill....
Again the idea is for those unemployed to stop sitting around feeling sorry for themselves and gripping about the job market...do what you have to do to BE in the work force in some capacity and the job will surely come they are looking for.
The VP is the President of the Senate.
Texas has already implemented or Perry has been promoting the solutions both Newt and Herman called for, but Perry’s the idiot?
I take it then you are in agreement with Perry’s message, just not Perry the messenger.
Cain is a nice guy but a lightweight. Did you notice he asked Newt to go first on 2 tough questions That would go great with Obama.
Wow. Not surprising out of the AyePee though. They change the context of the Cain comment about “we can change the rules as we go”. It wasn’t a “Cain said” comment it was a “Cain joked”.
Vicious lamestream media bastards. Gasp your last and die, you media whores.
My take exactly, both men know who the real enemy is and both men know that come 2012 they will need all the support they can get. It is very wise of both not to burn bridges. I saw more then a few opportunities for Newt to go on offense to his great credit Newt didn't. I did not see any opportunities for Cain to go on offense but believe Cain would not have either.
That’s another idea out of Perry’s book.
They'rethisclose :)
Do NOT know how a “tri-post” occurred... Apologies.
How they found nothing but negative after that debate is an indication of how sorry our country has become. I'm not a Cain guy, but why can't they just report on the friggin news. It was a great 'debate' and both men showed themselves to be patriots.
Missed the whole damn thing. Is it playing again, do you know?
“Would yall leave your Perry comments out of THIS!!!! Please”
No.
It's a MUST SEE for any conservative.
