Republican 2012 presidential candidates Republican 2012 presidential candidates Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich met in a Lincoln-Douglas style debate on current economic and social issues facing the U.S.
First of all, everybody steals everybody’s ideas. Second, I specifically said in this thread that it’s a GOOD THING to be able to recognize good ideas and use them.
I don’t know why some people think pointing out that an idea has been implemented already in Texas is a “negative attack”, or pointing out that Perry has the same idea is a “negative attack”.
My point was that, if you look at what was emphasized from the debate in this thread, there were only a couple of references that weren’t things Perry had already done in texas or been a staple of his message.
Which isn’t an attack on Cain or Gingrich, it is an observation that Perry is on the same page on the issues that people think are the most important.
On point after point — Optional Personal Retirement Accounts, block grants to the states, charging the feds for illegals, tort reform, loser pays, 10th amendment, and others — that is why I would support Rick Perry, if he can ever figure out how to debate. Sure, I could support Cain, or Gingrich, who are on the same page. But Perry also has 10 years of solid executive experience. Cain is such an amateur, inexperienced, and prone to shooting at the hip without having the facts. Gingrich has lots of baggage.
ok
Now most of the Illegals in the Texas State College System would say that Perry's got a heart.
I gave Perry a fair chance - three debates, his policy speech on jobs and his speech in NH.
He can't communicate, he can't debate, he is in favor of entitlements to illegals.
What happens in Texas should stay in Texas.
Thank you for shooting your own campaign in the foot with your behavior on this thread tonight.
Thanks to the Perry supporters conduct on this thread obnoxious childish behavior and Perry supporter are indelibly linked in Freepers minds.
There are five more debates
Then why does he drive you into insanity? There are 8 people running and all you can talk about is Perry. If he is coutons, let him go.
Well, I too would like to see Obama defeated, even if it’s by a Cain/Gingrich ticket.
Would you make the same pledge if it is a Perry/anybody ticket?
It is a a love fest, but I will say that Cain and to a lesser extent Gingrich have acknowledged that SS reform is an idea born in Texas.
I’ll let him go. But first you’re going to have to elaborate on this turkey masturbation thing. I’m serious how does that work?
Not offended at all. :)
Your wife is probably a saint.
Newt is bright but has too much baggage but is too self-absorbed (see my other posts in this thread). Herman Cain's sincerity and warm personality will go a long way to counter Obama's lies and vapid smiles in a debate. I think Obama would be scared of Cain or of Gingrich in any fair debate (dialogue) such as this one.
I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow-moving trains, and rain
I love little country streams, sleep without dreams, sunday school in may,
And hay
And i love you too
The “average Joe” cannot lead America in these times if economic and international crisis. I agree that life experience counts, but actual experience, knowledge, and foreign policy expertise is, IMO, crucial.
You are starting to build credence to the Perry Camp being behind the Herman Cain smear!
You comment about Mrs. Cain was uncalled for.
With people like you supporting Perry, it's one more reason why I won't support the man.
Resume your love fest with CW, it's becoming a comedy act.
And the other disconnect I don’t understand is Cain is a supporter of Romney, but wouldn’t touch Perry with a 10ft pole.
It just doesn’t make any sense.
I’ve just been told (by a guy I asked not to mail me) that my posts are doing harm to my candidate.
He was very concerned about that as he would absolutely hate for harm to be done to my candidate.
I’m sorry if I disrupted the love fest but you people should be grateful because I gave you the opportunity to post really nasty stuff about Perry.
Otherwise diabetics would have had to take shots of insulin during this thread.
I did not say that he WAS the average Joe, I said he is able to communicate to the average Joe.
First time I've seen that stated anywhere. I've been reading about Cain for some time now, and from what I know, he darn near rescued that company from certain doom.
Listen, I would much prefer that Cain was a past Governor of a state. That's the sort of experience I like to see in a prospective president, but I just can't vote for the current ex-Governors in the race. The one Governor I want for president has decided not to run.
That's forced me to give Mr. Cain a second look, and weigh him against the other candidates. He is the only bare-knuckled reformer with the right ideological views, and the requisite executive experience, in my view. He's also the front runner at this time, which means he's also stirring the hearts and minds of most of my fellow conservatives. Altogether, that's enough to earn my support.
I love your post. I love America and this also gives me hope for us all too. How badly we need a leader who believes in us again. I am moved too.
That is all good but dabbling compared to a full time policy wonk. Newt’s experience goes back 35 years.
