Webb was retreating from pure song writing and moving toward movie work and singing his own material. One other event overshadowed his life, which was to change drastically.

In 1968, Webb met Patsy Sullivan, a model and the daughter of actor Barry Sullivan. Webb fell head over heels in love with her. There was just one problem. Jimmy Webb was 22 years old. Patsy was 13.
