Perry attacks administration at campaign stop in Hampton, N.H......"On immigration policy, Perry said he is opposed to amnesty and will always be opposed to amnesty. "For decades we have had a federal government that has failed its constitutional duty to protect its borders," he said. "You have to ask, are we going to have a president that is going to stop the illegal activities happening on the border?"

What is wrong with this picture?

Gov. Perry asks for drones and technology, and more boots on the U.S. Mexican border. Meanwhile Texas Rangers are patrolling the U.S. Mexican border (1250 miles) the best they can -- salaries paid by the citizens of Texas. The International border with Mexico is a Federal responsibility but they refuse to do their sworn duty. Instead we find out the U.S. Federal Government bought and GAVE guns to Mexican drug cartels.

Gov. Rick Perry states that fencing in urban areas is effective but drones and Intel is needed for the rest of the border. His written and personal requests for the U.S. government to seal the border is ignored by the Obama administration and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. Instead DHS has for years used a drone for patrolling sections our border with Canada and is discussing wider drone patrols and more boots on the ground – on the northern border.

Posting this article thread may get through to a few folks.

Mostly it will only get the reactionaries and the nativists all stirred up and send them into a frenzy. Which some relish. LOL

We do not want one single illegal in this country, taking our jobs, nor for any other reason. Why don’t they “get” this? What part of illegal don’t you understand?

Rick Perry doesn’t want amnesty, he just wants illegals to come and go freely.

Is Perry stupid? They come...and then baby drop about 4 to 6 kids that WILL BE automatic citizens. They grow up on the dole and vote democrat. The has to be stopped and reversed. Once we lose Texas and or Florida to immigration Democ-rats...It is one party socialist rule. Just like California.

It is astonishing that for all the human resources, wasted tax money and lost lives - no public official has presented a workable, humane and practical solution.

Illegal is the operative word.

What is needed is a comprehensive census to identify illegal immigrants (when they apply for employment, benefits, drivers licenses, rentals, medical care etc.,)They should be immediately registered with the INS - given a background check/clearance and if appropriate - a ticket and orders to return to their country of origin. If they have a sponsor (citizen employer or relative) who can vouch for their good character and sound financial assets, they should be given a 6 month window, a contingent/temporary work permit to be renewed annually at INS.

When minor children are involved - I have no idea what we could do to correct this crisis.

If an illegal immigrant that is in the US illegally goes to the federal building to seek a Visa to come to the US legally, why shouldn't that illegal immigrant be arrested on the spot?

Every time I've traveled aboard, I am required to have a Visa before I get there, not apply for one once I've arrived.

Is this a Mexicans only deal for Perry? Or will illegal aliens from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Philippines also be allowed to some and go as they please? Allowed to treat America as a suburb of Karachi, Manila or Beijing

This statement by Perry is deliberate self sabotage or he is a moron

There is no sense in argueing with these people..They read what they want it to say and then run with the lies..They do forget one thing though the reader of this site(lerkers) do read the whole article and know what they are doing..That alone gives me comfort..

I have know Rick Perry for many years as my Governor and he is a very honest person and very intelligent..And one thing I would like to clear up Rick and GWB are friends they so not hate one another..Rick was GWB Attorney General.

“I disagree with the concept that somehow or another we’re going to pack up 10, to 12, to 15 million people and ship them back to the country of origin. That’s not going to happen,” Perry said.

It could happen, Rick. Here’s my solution. $900 fine for each illegal alien a company is found to employ. From that $900, $300 paid to whomever provided the info. $300 to the gov to run the program. $300 for one way airfare out of the country.

Perry is exhibiting the common trait of those who have destroyed our society...a believer that if you can’t enforce the law, you simply make the offense legal and that particular crime statistic simply vanishes.

Besides being extremely naive in believing that these Mexicans are going to obey any type of law or social rules and honor their commitment to return to Mexico is absolutely laughable!

Find me a Mexican who obeys the law and I will identify him as an American. Find me one who won’t and I will show you a Mexican imported by the likes of Perry.

I once was a staunch supporter of Perry but he keeps on digging the hole deeper in regards to his love of illegals already in the United States. I have washed my hands of him.

Cut off the welfare and free schooling for illegals and use e-verify (which he opposes) and the problem will pretty much solve itself.

...saying only that authorities need to determine a better way to identify illegal immigrants and make them part of mainstream society.

I'm dead-set against this.

Illegals are illegal. They should be kicked out.

worth repeating, from thread below:

“I’m over simplifying here, but if they apply for work permits, and are on record, they aren’t in the same sense an “illegal alien” any longer.
Then they are granting amnesty.

“Amnesty: the act of an authority (as a government) by which pardon is granted to a large group of individuals”

If the government, by issuing work permits, pardons a groups prior illegal acts, than they, by definition, are granting amnesty.

You can’t have it both ways.” Prokopton

How do you square this circle?
By calling the rest of us names, like lefties?

Perry is so close, but can’t seem to clear this hurdle:
If he would just say, “I’ll enforce the law.” Period.

Frankly I don’t think Mexico or mexicans will go for this.

It sounds like the old Bracero program. The workers had to good through a background check in Mexico before they could get the Alien Worker Card. and then a 2nd step to get into U.S. There would be some that would go through the process.
But without actually closing the border, I don’t think the criminals etc will stop crossing illegally.
.......................
The Bracero Program, 1942-1964
Dependence on Mexican labor has been a source of great opportunity as well as great conflict for Mexicans and Americans. In 1942, facing labor shortages caused by World War II, the United States initiated a series of agreements with Mexico to recruit Mexican men to work on U.S. farms and railroads. These agreements became known as the bracero program. (Bracero is a term used in Mexico for a manual laborer.)

Between 1942 and 1964, an estimated two million Mexican men came to the United States on short-term labor contracts. A little-known chapter of American and Mexican history, the bracero program touched the lives of countless men, women, families, and communities. Both bitter and sweet, the bracero experience tells a story of exploitation but also of opportunity........”Mexican farm workers . . . are contributing their skill and their toil to the production of vitally needed food.”

“Los trabajadores agrícolas mexicanos . . . están contribuyendo con su habilidad y su esfuerzo a la producción de alimentos vitalmente necesarios.”

Franklin D. Roosevelt
President of the United States / Presidente de los Estados Unidos
Monterey, México, 1943

Expectations
Braceros and U.S. farmers had many hopes for the program. U.S. farmers wanted temporary labor to harvest crops, and Mexico was willing to supply it. Economic depression in Mexico and the prospect of short-term work in the United States encouraged millions of Mexican men to begin the long process of being selected for the program. Men journeyed north for many reasons — most out of necessity, some to seek adventure, and others to start a new life.

Perry’s Plan: Create a new legally protected victim class.

Illegals would actually become more free than legal citizens to come and go.

We would still have the same illegals (and many more) walking amongst us, and getting taxpayer paid handouts and benefits, but they would be on a federal data base.

That way the federal government would know who to protect from bitter, irate taxpayers who might be clinging to the US Constitution.

Knowing who the illegals are doesn’t advance the enforcement of immigration laws when we have local, state and federal officials who refuse to keep their oaths to enforce constitutional laws.

We now have criminal illegals on various government data bases and what do government officials do with the information?

When illegals are caught many are released and told to come back to court or to leave the country. Then they just disappear somewhere back into America.

The problem is not the fact our government doesn’t have enough information.
The problem is that our government is corrupt to some degree at every level.
