Republican sexual harassment furor boosts Obama

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The longer the Republican presidential hopefuls battle over sexual harassment claims against Herman Cain, the better things look for President Barack Obama as he mounts his campaign for re-election.

Cain has been accused by at least three women of sexual harassment when he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the mid-1990s, claims that have been front and center in the Republican nomination race since the news web site Politico reported them on Sunday.

The rare instance of infighting in a party known for its unity comes just as Obama, a Democrat, is gaining some traction in opinion polls and the U.S. economy is showing signs of improvement.

"Obviously Team Obama wants the Republican field as large as possible for as long as possible," Republican strategist Ford O'Connell said. "The more they duke it out, the more ammo Team Obama has going into the general election."

Cain said he is innocent of the claims and accused rival Rick Perry's camp of being behind the story, which Perry has denied.

The disputes between the Republicans come as opinion polls show voters are responding well to Obama's push for his jobs bill. A poll from Quinnipiac University this week showed that 47 percent of Americans approve of Obama's job performance, up six percentage points from early October.

I’ve seen her picture. Patrica Zengerle is someone who would never have to worry about being sexually harassed.

This is the standard template. There will be more stories intended to prop up Obama as the election draws near. Who’s driving the Cain non-story? The same people who want Obama to remain in the White House.

...which is why the Hussein-fellating media is keeping the story alive.

Yes, if Cain gets the nomination the racism argument is DOA

Like they always say in marketing, good news or bad news just make sure you get the spelling right. This is going to make him a stronger candidate and rally the troops.

Pray for America

I could not care less if it does. It will be so temporary and small as to be irrelevant. In fact, in the vein of “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” I firmly believe that if Cain punches through this he will be absolutely unstoppable.

I think he does too.

Personally, I think posts should have barf alerts. I was not warned. I will send you a clean up bill

Yep. Though I do think this Obama boomlet is real, and not just reflective of bad polling. It’ll dissipate soon though, and he’ll be back down to -9%.

So do I.

In fact, I wouldn't give a hoot if he actually did everything they have accused him of doing--whatever that is--his accusers have been intentionally vague.

It does not escape the honest, intelligent, and just that Big Brother's Propaganda Machine ignored the credible and serious claims of Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, and Juanita Broaddrick--and in fact attacked them and did everything possible to discredit and destroy them.

The Propaganda Machine is as vile and odious as any that has ever existed.

They not only attacked the Clinton women, they did it with White House staff, straight in your face every day. Clinton lied to everyone. The women were mocked, accused, private lives exposed and Linda Tripp even prosecuted!

“gaining some traction?” really? Where? Not in any polls I’ve seen. He got a mild Khaddafi bump.

There’s no way 47% approve of Obama’s job performance. Simply no way. What in the world has he done that’s good? All the evidence shows the economy is worse off than ever. I have been looking for a job (paralegal) for a year after being a stay-at-home mom for 6 years. With 25 years of experience I can’t even get an interview and the pay scale is what it used to be 20 years ago. 8 years ago I would go on two interviews in one day and get both offers with competing salaries. It’s a joke today.

What a biased piece. Cain is weakening? How so? Maintaining the lead in the Republican field is not exactly what I would consider weakening.

I see like the smears on Cain, the facts don't matter to the Junk Media.

Cain is polling exactly the same vrs Obama as he was prior to this smear. O overall approval numbers have gone up very slightly because he has gone into hiding. He will have to come out and campaign eventually. When he does, his numbers will drop. His numbers only go up when voters do not see or hear from him.

That is hardly good news for the Democrats in 2012

Obama’s boost will come from voters eager to believe his lies that he is going to cramdown their mortgage principal, limit the interest charged on their Visa card and forgive their student loans.
