Newt has taken a more or less modified McCain tack, trying to remain above the fray and be the last man standing. It might just work for him, too. (hope not, I like the Herminator!) I agree. Newt's the only one handling himself like a statesman in this matter.

This survey, conducted after three full days of press coverage of the allegations against Cain, includes 1,000 likely Republican primary voters.

This is the first time Cain has a lead over Romney in the Rasmussen primary poll. Last month, Cain and Romney were tied at 29% each. In September, Cain was polling at just 7%.

Imagine how all those advisers that dumped Newt to go work for Perry feel about it now?

Just think where Paul Ryan would be if he were running for prez. Ryan has appeal with mainline conservatives and the establishment. He would probably have outclassed anyone in the debates.

The turkeybutts at RCP just will NOT let go of their two oldest Romney-leading polls (both 2.5 weeks old) which are expired even by their own standards!

Polling Data

Poll Date Sample Cain Romney Gingrich Perry Paul Bachmann Santorum Huntsman Spread
RCP Average 10/13 - 11/2 -- 26.0 23.8 10.2 9.7 8.0 3.5 1.7 1.3 Cain +2.2
Rasmussen Reports 11/2 - 11/2 1000 LV 26 23 14 8 7 2 1 2 Cain +3
Quinnipiac 10/25 - 10/31 869 RV 30 23 10 8 7 4 1 2 Cain +7
FOX News 10/23 - 10/25 328 RV 24 20 12 10 9 3 3 0 Cain +4
CBS News/NY Times 10/19 - 10/24 455 RV 25 21 10 6 8 2 1 1 Cain +4
CNN/Opinion Research 10/14 - 10/16 416 A 25 26 8 13 9 6 2 1 Romney +1
Associated Press/GfK 10/13 - 10/17 431 A 26 30 7 13 8 4 2 2 Romney +4

...because if they DID remove those two expired Romney-leading polls, they would have to report THIS:

Polling Data

Poll Date Sample Cain Romney Gingrich Perry Paul Bachmann Santorum Huntsman Spread
RCP Average 10/19 - 11/2 -- 26.3 21.8 11.5 8.0 7.8 2.8 1.5 1.3 Cain +4.5
Rasmussen Reports 11/2 - 11/2 1000 LV 26 23 14 8 7 2 1 2 Cain +3
Quinnipiac 10/25 - 10/31 869 RV 30 23 10 8 7 4 1 2 Cain +7
FOX News 10/23 - 10/25 328 RV 24 20 12 10 9 3 3 0 Cain +4
CBS News/NY Times 10/19 - 10/24 455 RV 25 21 10 6 8 2 1 1 Cain +4

LOL. It’s ok. It will just hurt more when they let go-—like hanging onto a rope of a helicopter that’s rapidly ascending.

.
Much like what the government does with unemployment statistics, the following chart represents a 4-poll "rolling average" for the latest 20+ polls listed at RealClearPolitics.com (plus recent weekly national polls from YouGov).

I also weighted the polls by their size. For example, a poll with a survey size of 1000 was weighted proportionately heavier than an 324 survey size.

Weighted 4-Poll Rolling Averages of the latest 20+ Polls listed at RCP [as of Nov 3rd]
plus the "YouGov" 10/25, 10/18 and 10/11 polls, and the 11/1 Poll Position poll inserted chronologically

*I estimated Ron Paul's support in the 11/1 Poll Position at 7.9% in order for his strength to neither go up or down at that point.

(I have the methodology of this chart on my profile page, but it needs to be updated with the most recent polls)

Personally it would not suprise me if Herman and Newt have a deal to work together to kick these others to the curb and then leave themselves as the last two on the Island.

” - - - gingrich just said its going to be him and romney. - - - “

That was smart of Newt to say that. Newt and Willy-Rom-Rom-RINO are competing for the GOP Establishment vote. Who is “safe” to support? That is the question that the GOP regulars want answered.

Meanwhile, the shock troops are winning the battlefield with their candidates. Once Newt focuses on getting Romney on the defensive, Newt shold see an increase in his campaign donations.

BTW, is there anyway that the campaign contributions can be tracked, and posted on FR? Money is a lot more important than 1000 phone call opinions.

Cain is the most conservative of the leading candidates. Barring some GENUINE issue - aside from manufactured garbage from questionable trollops - he deserves our total support as conservatives.

Perry simply has not performed well in a debate situation, which is most unfortunate. A vote for him, Bachmann, Santorum or Ron Paul is simply a vote for Romney. And Romney would make George Bush II look like a right wing radical.
