In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:
Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency. ...
Liberal progressives and other enemies of the constitution and or of Liberty itself are not welcome here. Accounts registered here by liberal progressives and other assorted trolls, malcontents and disruptors will be removed on sight or at the convenience of the site administrators.
The site came under fire from Ross Abraham, a blogger for Mitt Romney Central, who wrote today that Free Republic is just one of several sites (along with RedState, he says) on the right-wing Internet that are pretty much off limits to Mitt Romney's supporters.

Well, maybe they should by a clue. Their boy isn't conservative, so conservatives don't want him, just like Obama supporters aren't welcomed. Is that so hard to understand?
If you are going to slam a Mod for properly doing his job, Mittbott, you should ping him so he can defend himself.
It's not surprising that a Mittbot is also a stinking liar. I see lightning in your future.
Great find Fred. Thanks for posting!
Serious thought needs to be put into organizing this third party if it is seriously believed that Mitt will get the GOP nod. I personally believe Mitt will markedly underwhelm the primary voters, but it’s also possible that Cain may only get a plurality. What follows then at the GOP convention? Everybody do a revote hoping for a majority?
Anyhow, if a third party cannot at the least equal the vote getting power of Obama in 2012, it’s going to be a spoiler, counterproductive. The only way I could see to swing it would be to get Sarah Palin herself to be that candidate.
However, the GOP will have control of both houses, so there will be no Fhole like Reid to screw everyone over. Will they be able to override a veto, you ask? Not likely but when they get the super majorities in 2016 they will and the gop will get them.
Romney is way low on my list of Republican contenders. However, I do believe that Republicans are substantially more pro-business than Democrats. And, since a big portion of our lives is bound up in business I’ll still be plenty motivated to vote for Romney over Obama. (After which I will re-double
my efforts to promote the Tea Party within the Republican Party - which is something I’ve been doing actively from within the Republican Parth this past year).
well, HALF the people on here won’t do a thing to help the other half stop Romney in the early states. Does it fit in with FR policy to refer to them as losers?
Cuz if we are left with Romney vs. Obama, then it means we were defeated and then it don’t matter who y’all vote for next November. Defeated people are often defiant.
Yes, the Republican establishment, especially the stupid RINOs need to understand that a RomneyINO candidate will cause defection to the 3rd party candidate just like Bush 1 and his gun control got him ousted even against the rapist clintoon. I don’t want to go to Billy Ayers reeducation camps.
Jim Robinson is a great American!
I had a thread pulled in November, 2001. I’m still sore about it. Oh, and Laz corrected my spelling once.
“write in a Conservative”
That’s a great idea, I will do that.
So is Jim Thompson!
Who the hell does this Ross Abraham think he is, trying to tell those who run conservative web sites how to behave? Mixing it up with liberals has its time and place, but allowing liberals at FR would greatly dilute its purpose and disperse the efforts of Freepers.
If, God forbid, Mitt Romney secures the Republican nomination, I expect to see Ross Abraham rant that conservatives must pull the lever for him, else we are Obama supporters, or some such noxious tripe.
I’m sorry to learn that Free Republic blocks Romney supporters from posting. I’ve been enjoying this message board for a number of years. Their decision to block an important segment of posts lessens my respect for Free Republic.
WTG Jim.
Half? How do you make this assessment. I have noticed that freepers do contribute to Cain’s campaign, however, I do not have any knowledge of who volunteers on the campaigns. I think that the percentage of freepers that volunteer is far higher than the general population of voters.
