"Plumas County Sheriff Greg Hagwood related the stir he caused when he said he "will not criminalize citizens for just accessing public lands." "

The counties should grab the National Forests using eminent domain, "for the children".

Their latest battle is to stop destruction of four hydroelectric dams along the Klamath River – an action driven by environmentalists and the Obama administration. Most locals say the dam-busting will undermine their property rights and ruin the local farming and ranch economy, which is all that's left since environmental regulators destroyed the logging and mining industries.

Fascist government that even Mussolini would be proud of.

A Nat Geo show on game wardens had some of these freedom lovers showcased, basically psychopathic game poachers and drug addled losers. Not saying that everyone who mouths the word “freedom” is a load on society, but when the word “freedom” is used the question, “From what” must always be asked.

I kind of see the next civil war not as north/south but rural/city....literally the entire 50 contiguous states. Same basic philosophies at odds just with the “small central government” folks coming out on top and most cities over 100,000 people quite literally aflame.

The state I live in for instance. The Olympia-Tacoma-Seattle corridor is very, VERY liberal to almost communist in it’s political leanings. Most of the rest of the state is center-right. I think that is the case in most states with large rural areas that are dominated by 1 to 4 cities of size.

But, if you cut those cities off. Nothing in, nothing out.....well, it’s a strategy anyways.

Yep, there is a huge tension between “urban” minded and rural minded citizens.

The environmentalists have gone to court here in Oregon to put slugs and snails on the endangered species list, so they can completely shut down forest mgmt anywhere in the state.

The most productive Douglas Fir forests in the world lay in about four counties in southern Oregon. Since the spotted owl we have been living on a "hand out" from the feds to not cut our forests, 50 million for our county. The results 20% unemployment and another mill shutting down every year.

The county commissioners say in about 5 years all forest practice skills will be lost on the next generation. Our number one export? Our children!
