Unlike Mitt, Newt, Jeb, McConnell, Boehner, McCain, Rove, et al, Cain is not part of the GOP elite.

Rove makes his money as a political consultant.
He works both sides of the aise and is afraid Tea Party folks will not pay his overly large fees.
Like most of the elite politicians Rove doesn’t give a damn which side wins only that the status quo remains the same with both parties continuing Big Gubmint and paying his big fees.
Tea party may just hang his sorry ass from the G.W. Washington bridge as a leach on society.

The same people who were to 'lazy' to investigate 'bammy' now want to 'phone-in' their stories for 2012 Presidential Race. They can only do that if it's Mitt and 'bammy'. That means there is no room in their plans for a candidate like Herman Cain.
The 'Lamestream' media, the rino's, inside the beltway boys and political pundits of all stripes never saw Cain as a viable candidate. There has been a solid stream of reasons coming from them since he announced as to why Cain couldn't be taken seriously, why Cain cant win, why Cain is only a second tier candidate and as those reasons grew thinner in substance they have been forced again and again to find more and different reasons as to why Cain can't win.
Why do they continue to derail Cain even as he defeats their arguments against him?
There are any number of reason, he is not a member of the insiders club for one, hes not a known career politician for another, but mostly these people just dont understand a man like Herman Cain. Not that that is entirely their fault, because men like Herman Cain are so rare these days, men of real integrity.
Its been at least 30 years since these people have had to deal with some of Cains stripe and they are completely out of their depths in trying to understand him.
Herman Cain who truly was until recently a virtual unknown had faith enough in himself to decide to run for President of the United States on his own. There was no Media hype/pressure/build-up about a possible run, there was no urging by members of the Party, no words spoken into his ear by party players, elites, beltway boys or pundits, not even a word of encouragement from the Republican Party of his home state only faith in himself.
And time and time again Herman Cain has shown just what kind of man he is. Is he without faults? Hardly, no man is without his faults, but one measure of a man is how he faces his faults and Herman not only faces his faults, but admits to them, learns from them, teaches others from then and lastly he laughs at himself over them and it takes a man who is truly sure in himself to be able to laugh at their own mistakes.
Considering the great numbers of skeptics on this forum I am sure there will be a good number of FReepers who will find this post funny and stupid, but here goes: I think one of the reasons people support Herman and why so many skeptics cant see Cain for what he is can be summed up in the following lines from the 2003 movie 'Secondhand Lions'
Hub: "Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in."
In Herman Cain we see a good man, an honorable man, a man that has made his mark through his own effort and owes no one other than God and his Parents for his success. We see a man who did not seek money and power, but achieved them and a yet they clearly hold no sway over him.
Maybe we are foolish and gullible, maybe we have all seen Mr. Smith Goes to Washington one to many times and now think that Good really can triumph over evil.
The skeptics, naysayers, elitist, Lamestream media types dont believe in anything, but there are still some of us, many of us that choose to believe, because those are things worth believing in.

The GOP is part of the problem, and not part if the solution.
Not only are they stupid, they are corrupt, and they are statists.
The only the GOP has ever engineered is its own defeat.

It seems that the republican party was just as guilty of progressivism as the dems. Remember when Pelosi said that elections shouldn’t matter? Both parties are controlled. Didn’t you wonder why McCain was so shy about bringing up Obamas obvious shortcomings? It’s because they were on the same side. Herman Cain threatens the hold that progressives have had on both parties (especially Repubs). He threatens to roll back big government. That is why they don’t like him (and why we do)
To: US Navy Vet
It’s not fear. It’s loathing. And it’s mutual.
To: US Navy Vet
The same reason they are terrified of the Tea Party. The same reason all Democrats and establishment Republicans are afraid. They’re terrified that Cain will put an end to the crony capitalism that goes on no matter which party is in power. They’re afraid that he will put an end to the rampant pillaging of taxpayer money that has been going on in both parties. Out with the old, in with the new. Give Herman a chance.

Sometimes a 5 cent cigar is just a cigar!
Perhaps Karl isn’t afraid of anything and he’s just offering up an objective political assessment?
Is it possible one could conclude that messing up a pro-life message, not being conversant on his own 999 plan, and being unfamiliar with “right of return”, are a basis for looking elsewhere for a Republican nominee?

We don’t know everything about Herman Cain. I was at the debate last week and had the opportunity to speak with John Fund of the Wall Street Journal. He looked me in the eye and told me that he has known Herman Cain for 15 years and that he is NOT Presidential. Remember, Cain has never been really in the public eye and I would hate to have him as our candidate only to have things revealed that would make him unelectable. I think Rove knows those things. And I like Cain. I would like to see a Gingrich/Cain ticket. But the way Fund said it to me, makes me nervous.

Rove and GOP elite know Cain or Palin could beat Obama and Romney would lose.By Obama winning this leaves 2016 open for Jeb Bush.If Cain or Palin win Jeb is history.
To: US Navy Vet
I don’t know that “terrified” is the right word. I think “offended” is better. Cain has not kissed the ring, and hasn’t been blessed by the establishment, and there he is out there running like he might win. The nerve!

Palin and Cain are not part of the soap opera drama we watch daily in D.C. (where the script and outcomes are already set and the RATS and RINOs provide us with WWE-type “entertainment”).
