Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi considers the US president a blessing to the Muslim world. In a speech published in London-based al-Hayat newspaper on Saturday, Gaddafi praised Barack Obama, called him a "friend" and said there is no longer any dispute between his country and the US.

I like it when dictators go this way. This kind of ignominious end at that hands of the people is truly fitting. Nicolae Ceaucescu and Benito Mussolini come to mind. It is a lesson that teaches everyone that an armed population is a tyrant's worst enemy.

The part that nags me is the "body double" problem. Situations like this make it difficult to get absolute confirmation that the body represents the correct thug. I REALLY didn't like it when the focus went to hell when they hung Saddam. It would have been easy to pull a switch.
