"What problem does DeMint have with Cain?"

Probably the same problem many of us have with Cain (a good guy, by the way).

Cain has no money, no organization anywhere nor will he have any, he will not win any primaries to speak of, and certainly doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of beating Obama.

Conservatives backing Cain are principled but in reality not too politically grounded. He just can't win over Obama. Wishing won't make it so.

DeMint is first and foremost a savvy tactical politician and knows all this.....although if he endorses Romney, it personally will make me ill.

That’s funny. Now, for a dose of reality.

In 2008, Mike Huckabee didn’t have any money or the vaunted ‘organization’ that all the Mitt Perry supporters are always telling tales about. Yet, he won Iowa.

In 2008, John McCain ran his campaign out of money and was ‘finished’ according to every pundit. He barely had two dimes to rub together, yet he won New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand, had all the money in the world and threw it at every one of those primaries. He had the best ‘organization’. His disciples here at FR were telling us exactly the same thing you are now for months. They were wrong and so are you.

So, the next time you want to peddle conventional ‘wisdom’ as fact, please do us the courtesy of learning your recent history first. Kthxbye.

That is, after all, the demographic that FR has been self-selecting for during the past few years.......

Most of the political class establishment among all wings does not like presidential primaries and loves coronations. They point to 1988 and 1996 as reasons.

More than anything else, they want to pick candidates they perceive as the most electable which often means who has the money and organization. It's often got nothing to do with ideology.

They think Mitt's the electable candidate. So was John Kerry with the democrats. So was Dole. I'm going to be ill too with the endorsement of Mitt too not just because he's liberal, but because he's a weak candidate. He was supposed to be the guy 08 and lost to McCain. He can't close the sale.

For all who say “Cain can’t win” I ask you why did the Dallas Mavericks play in the championship play-offs? Everyone knew they couldn’t win? And they wouldn’t have won if they hadn’t tried.

The latest talking point from the Perry Supporters/Apologists.
