With the Carter Adm. food prices went through the roof. We shopped once a month for food for 7 and locked the car door if we stopped to shop for something with the groceries in the car...Democrats always do the same thing. The only thing that saved Clintons bacon was a republican house and senate...The cost to the truckers that truck the groceries has gone sky high for gas. That alone makes a difference in grocery prices, plus other factors involved in this economy...like paying more taxes...My son is an independent trucker...to fill his gas tank on his rig cost him 1000.00. His prices have had to go up. So your prices have to go up.

Democrats and rino's are all the same. they don't do anything except tax and spend and steal from the working man...I don't understand such people voting democrat or rino...just proves it's conservatives that fight for what is right, not necessarily republicans...No rino vote from me. I will vote down ballot for congress but will not vote for the same thing with a different face...

Marie, Is your real name Nancy Pelosi? LOL We don’t need to vote for the bill so we can see it!

There is tons of information out there on federal urban empowerment zones and federal enterprise zones. I’ve already given you a lot, and there is a lot more out there too. Go read about these housing programs on the Federal Housing and Urban Development website and you’ll see one big part of urban renewal and minority entitlements for families living in those minority neighborhoods called empowerment zones.

No we may not know percentages each individual community might get from the federal government blocked off specifically for black youth programs or subsidized federal day care programs or free loans for housing updates in Hispanic empowerment neighborhoods or what percentage of the federal revenue will be federally mandated towards minority business start ups in low income minority urban areas, but we know enough to know we should not be tolerating these additional federal entitlements and expanded federal involvement in federally-run social welfare projects for minorities in urban areas.

I’m not asking you to change candidates. I’m just admonishing you all to stand up against clipping these empowerment and enterprise zones to the 999 plan. No conservative should tolerate such liberal social practices with tax revenue collected from our middle and upper class working citizens.

Say NO and stand by fiscally conservative principles now too! We’ve come too far in our journey to give up what we have worked so hard to earn, and I’m not even talking money here right now.

wal mart, as I said, is the largest deflationary force in America but, as I also said, you get what you pay for. Wal Mart constantly forces its distributors to cut costs and that is how they make a profit. Those cost cuts almost always come in the form of compromises in quality so yes, you pay less but you buy less. I have bought wal mart clothes that didn’t last a year, items that were broken when I opened the package, and too many items that now reside in a garbage dump somewhere. Wal Mart sells junk. Harley Davidson’s, btw, hold their resale value unlike the jap bikes. that is true of many high quality US made products.

No, he has already defeated his first slimeball career politician, Perry, now he is working on a former governor.

Been voting since the 60’s. I am a conservative not a republican...But your opinion of who will be the minority is just one man’s opinion. My opinion is your wrong. I will love Cain’s swearing in ceremony...:O)

***$60 for a freakin’ shirt. That’s insane.)****

You sure are right on that...shop ebay for clothes and salvation army carry clothes that still have the tags on them and some are designer clothes.

I also never buy clothes unless they are on sale. (for me sale is 50% off) I once got a great pair of jeans at Salvation army with tag, never worn designer label for 5 dollars as they had an in store sale after 6pm with all clothes 5 bucks for those in the store...they fit like they were made for me...

OK Ms. Nancy Vote-For-It-First Pelosi. You’re going to do whatever you want, but I won’t stand by quietly as he dishes out national sales tax exemptions to urban minorities and then adds federal urban empowerment zones to his 999 plan. I sure as h-e-double-l won’t sit by silently. I want our nation to know there are still conservatives in our country that are willing to stand and fight for fiscal responsibility and for smaller government. I WON’T stand by quietly and tolerate it. No I won’t, and I am begging any conservative who cares about Tea Party principles, fiscal responsibility, and smaller government to stand up with me and fight this problem tooth and nail too. Just hold him accountable and do not let him engineer liberal minority agendas into the 999 plan, and make sure the world knows you will not tolerate those kinds of things in America any more!

For the farmers in drought area, they are selling beef just because they cannot continue to feed them....The cost of hay has also gone sky high in most of the states and also corn and grain for feed for the animals. That add's also to the cost of food, all down the line this economy has been shredded by Obama.

I loved Bush's foreign policy and handling the war and his love for the military, but his domestic policys stunk, but he wasn't out to destroy the country like the libs and obama are today...What I hold against him and the republ.congress is Bush never vetoed any spending bill..that gave us obama...

“OK Ms. Nancy Vote-For-It-First Pelosi.”

I’m sorry .. I wasn’t aware that you were hard of hearing. I’ll try again. I said... [clearing throat]

WE HAVE TO SEE WHAT THE MAN IS TALKING ABOUT BEFORE WE CAN DECIDE IF WE’RE FOR OR AGAINST IT.

I do believe that I also said something along the lines of...

[spraying numbing spray in mouth...]

a-hem...

“BUT THEN, I COULD HAVE IT ALL WRONG. I DON’T KNOW. I MAY *HATE* THE IDEA AND THEN I’LL HAVE TO DECIDE IF IT’S BAD ENOUGH TO SCRAP THE *WHOLE PLAN*.”

Is that better?

My husband’s $30,000 Harley sold for $14,000 after only three years. No. We didn’t get ripped off. That was the value of the bike.

Try Goodwill. There are many brand-name clothes that are in great condition at a steal. (All goodwills are not equal. The one’s in the bigger cities have MUCH better selections.)

and look at ROSS. They have very nice (new) clothes - name brands - at fantastic prices.

I’ll buy a nice blouse at walmart for $20 and have it tailored for $12. I now have a $32 blouse that’ll last me for five years. (If I take care of it... but that goes for everything.)

I’m all about quality. But there are ways to get the most bang for your buck.

(Seriously. You’re going to love ROSS.)

Hubby and I have paid off $91,000 in debt over the last 6 years while raising two sick kids on one paycheck. We did it by being cheap bastards.

But we have nice clothes. We just paid cash for a ‘65 Falcon that’s being restored. We paid cash for my PT Cruiser (Don’t say a word. I *LOVE* my car!) that will end up costing us as much as a new car by the time we’re through with all of the upgrades. (But I’ll have my dream car.)

Hubby and I have to move (the army says so) in 8 months and we’re buying nice, quality pieces and replacing all of our household goods.

BUT I’m taking my time and shopping for the best deals. Not cheap crap. Good deals.

Enjoyed the intelligent exposition. Noting Laffer and Ryan are positive regarding Herman Cain's bold initiatives.

The cause of the economic wasteland has been Obama's communist repression.

Czars regulate, Dodd-Frank strangle, the oil moratorium, the end-of-Pompeii spending.

Herman Cain speaks to citizens' deep anger at Obama and underlying faith in American exceptionalism.

In fact, the man is a living advertisement for it.

Hence doesn't need the shrieking fairies of advertising to sell his product.

The American people bought it, own it, are bullish on it.

The train is here to pick up the Tea Partyers.

So we are supposed to abandon the guy in first place who is the most dynamic conservative in the race in order to support the guy in third place (or is it fourth or fifth place) who has done such a poor job articulating himself that he has had to put his wife on the campaign trail to drum up sympathy for him?

This is your strategy for beating Romney?

Well Marie, You could always be for it before you are against it. Then when we conservatives get it fixed and can still hold OUR heads high because we did the right thing, you could be for it again thanks to us. There is always room for flip floppers in politics.

However, there is NEVER room for tolerating socially-engineered tax and spend gimmicks, and that is exactly what federal entitlements through federal empowerment zones are.

I did hear the ‘scrap the whole plan thing-maybe hate it’ thought you gave too though, and yes, maybe that is what you would end up wanting to do. Who knows, but as for what comes with empowerment neighborhoods and enterprise zones.... yes, we DO know what they are. They are nothing new at all, and conservatives should stand up against adding more tax revenue to those kinds of federally-run entitlement programs.

Not cool, and not conservative.

who has done such a poor job articulating himself that he has had to put his wife on the campaign trail to drum up sympathy for him?

I wanted to like Rick Perry--then he called me heartless.

Bill Richardson's sanctuary policies created North Mexico for Republican governor Susana Martinez to clean up.

I've been inspired by Herman Cain's ideas and presentation.

He's a leader, he's bold, he's striking a chord.

We heard Perry's wife several times on the radio today.

"If I hear 999 one more time I'm calling 911."

One thinks of those who called 911 from McDonalds to complain of the lack of Chicken McNuggets.

A campaign needs a little humor.

Had Romney lightened up with Jan Mickelson in Des Moines in 2008 he might not have gone hysterical with his paranoia.

It's a highly charged time and people present in unguarded moments what they've concealed through decorum for all their lives.

Win here win it all.

Sometimes good sometimes not—I voted for Fred but McCain still won.

Huckabee got a lot of the upstate evangelicals so that left our state's large pro-military bloc giving the whole shebang to war hero John (Perry should play up his USAF experience here).

This time it's McCain sans the Mc!
