At Wonderland Avenue Elementary School in Laurel Canyon, there are lesson plans on diverse families including those with two mommies or daddies books on homosexual authors in the library and a principal who is openly gay.
But even at this school, teachers and administrators are flummoxed about how to carry out a new law requiring California public schools to teach all students from kindergartners to 12th graders about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans in history classes.
"At this point, I wouldn't even know where to begin," Principal Don Wilson said.
Educators across the state don't have much time to figure it out. In January, they're expected to begin teaching about LGBT Americans under California's landmark law, the first of its kind in the nation.

America deserves its future.
What’s so hard about putting together lessons on violence and suicide?
Just review the biographies of John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer.
Why in the name of all that’s holy would anyone still send their children to public school?
California public schools force the ways of the insane on the sane or as they call it re-education.
California has no leadership only bunch of aur heads.
Are you speaking 'from experience'?
History? Don’t they have a fonder father? or Queen or something? They are all so proud of something. They have parades celebrating their pride.
Parents of this school REMOVE YOUR CHILDREN FROM THIS SCHOOL, NOW!
DO NOT LOOK BACK ..or else you will turn to salt!
If at all possible LEAVE CALIFORNIA!
A lot of the bigs in the Third Reich were homos, as well.
“Kids, we don’t have time to talk about Andrew Carnegie or Thomas Edison in class today—you’ll have to read about them on the web or in the back of you history books. Today, we’ll devote our class time to the dramatic contributions made to our culture by Ru Paul, Richard Simmons, and other gender-challenged Americans.”
The problem is that they are not allowed to tell the truth that many homosexual men are sex addicts and the truth about suicide and mental and physical health problems.
How about telling the state: "Go to hell!"?
When is someone in public life going to have the guts to stand up to this insanity?
We don’t need no stinkin’ math.
We don’t need no stinkin’ civics.
We don’t need no stinkin’ English.
We don’t need no stinkin’ citizens.
But, we really really, REALLY need LGBT training.
Such is the mind (as it is) of the modern progressive.
As a Californian and an American, this makes me incredibly sad. It’s amazing how quickly and thoroughly the left has won.
“Don’t know much about his-to-ry.
Don’t know much bi-ol-ogy.
What I do know, is L-B-G-T.”
And we all know that the quality of education at government schools is abysmal because stingy taxpayers led by republican politicians won’t fork over enough money.
California probably needs a third party.
The Republicans are too appeasing and eager to be thought well of by the media. They are hopeless. I think they have a bad rep. in California partly because they are such greasy wimps.
I wonder if a third party could get any traction? There should be plenty of Hispanics in California who don’t like what’s going on.
Just a thought.
Yes, and this is more proof that those Republicans who buy the whole “Hispanics are natural Republicans” line have in fact bought into a myth, and need to wake up.
The electoral power of the latino community is perhaps strongest in California, yet they have not injected one iota of social conservatism into the Democratic party.
One sign of our path toward revival is some city telling the feds to shove their public school schmas up their collective smelly Obamas.
You want revolution, libs?
It’s coming, Obamaholes.
Have to leave the whole state
I live in Ca. and it’s ran by air heads see last 25 years.
