The Talk Shows
October 16th, 2011
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va.; Sen. Dianne Feinstein, R-Calif.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain; Gov. Bobby Jindal, R-La.; former Gov. Tim Pawlenty, R-Minn.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): 2012 Reps. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and Elijah Cummings, D-Md.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod; Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich.; Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.
My problem with the Cain plan is the lack of any way to prevent increasing the tax rates. Short of a constitutional amendment, I would expect furutr politicians to increase the tax rates.
Most people didn't even know what a RINO was back then. We ALL know what a RINO is now. We've seen RINOs taking up the defense of their ways (rather than offense) and turning ever slightly rightward. This is a trend we MUST continue.
The TEA party really changed the dynamics of the Republican party. I don't think, in the end, any Republican can get into national level office without the TEA party. Any effort to suppress them will fail. The principles the TEA party stands for are correct: No to big government and No to raising taxes to pay for stuff we ALREADY cannot afford and are in debt for. I'll bet that 60% or more of the American people actually agree with them. These principles are vote getters.
The McCain nomination taught a lot of us, too. We need to remember that the Republican party is a Conservative party.
This is an example of why Conservatives never win the policy debate. Rather then look for real solutions, they look to the same political class that created the mess to clean it up.
The people who profit from the political system as is are not ever going to reform it. Despite the claims about 0bama, he was a card carrying member of the Political class. His whole background and experience has been part of the media/political class. 0Bama, wasn’t “on the job training” in the White House, he was groomed for decades to be a poltiican of one sort or another.
A Cain Presidency, but upsetting all the accepted standards and assumptions of US Politics, would shake the political establishment to it foundations.
You don’t put the drug addict that bankrupted your pharmacy in charge of saving it. Putting a professional politician in the White House and expecting him to change anything in the system he profited from is nonsense
What stops Congress from raising rates 20-30-40% right now? The same political pressure from the people that stops will stop hikes of the 9-9-9 rates. It would be much harder under 9-9-9 to hike taxes. Everyone pays so everyone knows any tax hike will effect them personally. Now Congress can hide tax hikes as "only a tax on business" or "making the rich pay their fair share". Under 9-9-9 the pressure to spend more is removed by making the lower tax rates more broadly based. Under 9-9-9 no one is left with the illusion that they are getting a free ride on some other tax payer's dime.
Anyone have ratings info as to how these shows are doing...or is it relevant, because I know in different markets they air at different times, and not always thus necessarily against the same other shows..
I thought that was what I was agreeing with. RINOs like RINOs -— they need to go.
Well said!
I don’t disagree but the other candidates are not out of the competition. Time will tell how well any of them will do in the long run.
Thanks for the link. I’m not a big Kristol fan although I enjoy it when he’s on a rant against the Democrats.
Herman Cain’s face is a delight as he rebuts all of Williams/DNC talking points.
The problem is not that 9-9-9 can be upped it's with those who would up it!
The problem is big spenders! Not the formulas. This needs to be addressed. The political mentality of all needs must be bought and paid for is false.
Govt. needs to live within its means not beyond!! This is the key problem. Not the formula, whatever it is.
Oops: I meant Gregory/DNC talking points.
He doesn’t even know that there are some states that do not have income taxes, and states that do.
“makes Cain the least politically experience candidate on any debate stage.”
Makes him very attractive!
Please let us know your reaction to Cain’s interview on MTP.
I caution everyone to avoid attacking each other over whih GOP candidate is the preferred choice.
THIS IS WHAT THE MEDIA IS INSTIGATING.
They are carefully leaking snippets ut of context, comments by Beltway “insiders,” comments from Tea Party people, etc. all to one end: dividing the GOP.
Do not fall for it.
I am wholly on board with whoever wins the nomination. That includes Romney, who is only my 5th favorite. I will even vote for Huntsman or Paul in the general election.
Why?
BARACK OBAMA IS A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER TO THIS NATION.
Any GOP person, even Huntsman, will be getting new people in the White House. We have got to get these communists out.
Perry isn’t very good at debates, but he has a visceral dislike of Obama, which should keep him motivated.
Cain doesn’t have governmental experience, but he has a good knowledge of money and business. He is also likable (Common Tator’s precept on who a winner will be) and is willing to call BS on the racial accusations.
Either one is fine with me.
Romney has an advantage with independents. That might also prove useful in the general election. Wish he wasn’t so squishy. Don’t like how his kids never served in national Guard or how he treated his dog.
But in the end, Obama is destroying this country on purpose. So quit bickering and wait to see what voters decide in the primaries. Donate to who you want, and tell us the good points of your preferred candidate.
Avoid insulting backers of other candidates, because we will all need to unify and work like hell to save this country come next summer and fall.
Herman is doing very well in making David Gregory look like the DNC shrill that he is. Go Herman Cain.
