Herman Cain gets the 'simple' label from the Washington Post (Simple as in 'simple-minded')
American Thinker ^ | 10/13/2011 | J. Robert Smith

Oh, no. Looks like the Washington Post has put the Reagan curse on Herman Cain. In the lead story in the Post's Friday electronic edition, Post reporter Sandhya Somashekhar characterizes Cain's positions as "simple." For the smart set - those sophisticates who see nothing but gradations of gray - simple just means "simplistic." How many times was the great Ronald Reagan pasted with the "simple" label by liberal and Republican establishment detractors?

Now it's Cain's turn to be Reagan-simple. That should buck up Cain considerably. The Washington Post and New York Times don't give front-page, lead story billing to candidates who they think are marginal. So simple Herman Cain must be registering with the big complex brains at the Post more than his current good polling suggests.

Somashekhar opines - err, reports:

"And that has prompted questions about what else he stands for and whether he has the breadth of knowledge -- particularly on foreign policy -- expected of an occupant of the White House."

Now who was Somashekhar referring to, Reagan or Cain? It seems the smart set has a penchant for regurgitating tired old arguments.

But in Somashekhar's very next paragraph, readers get to the heart of what makes Cain - and Reagan before him - a simpleton.

Herman Cain unlike Mitt and Rick scares both the media and the elites of both parties and here’s why:

Herman Cain who truly was until recently a virtual unknown had faith enough in himself to decide to run for President of the United States on his own. There was no Media hype/pressure/build-up about a possible run, there was no urging by members of the Party, no words spoken into his ear by party players, elites, beltway boys or pundits, not even a word of encouragement from the Republican Party of his home state only faith in himself. Now after months of being treated as being a inconsequential candidate the curious sideshow of a conservative black Republican, he is now in the top tier along with people of great party pull, of men with experienced political machines and the dollars to power them. He did that on his own with no help from anyone accept by his own. Now think what a man with faith in himself like that could accomplish if given the chance.

Now many are saying Cain hasn’t a chance with his little formal organization and even less money.

Well let me remind all of you of what a recent movement did with no formal organization and even less money, The Tea Party.

The Tea Party manage with both those weakness to go on and seriously change the political landscape and in doing so caused the Leftist members of govenment, ellitist of both political parties and media types to quake in fear of them and their rath and all done with only a minimum of formal organization and on a ‘shoe string’ budget.

That’s what sucessful AMERICANS do, what they have always done! It’s what makes us WINNERS! They start out with what they have and they MAKE IT WORK! They make it work because what they don’t have in manpower or money they make-up with brains, sweat, blood and last but most important faith.

He could be complex, like Obama. When there’s a problem, his solution is to form a committee to study the issue, take a poll of his liberal buddies, and then create new government agencies to monitor it. He then creates a task force to monitor the agencies and new government agencies to monitor the task force that is monitoring the other agencies. Then we need a czar to monitor them all. That’s how you don’t get things done in Washington. It would also never work in private industry.

There is nothing more simple than the truth. Theories, ideologies, analyses, imaginations and grand schemes tend to be a whole lot more complicated. Truth is just what it is. Very simple.

Intellectuals measure intelligence as how far you can depart form reality and make it look as though you used reason and logic to get there.

Don’t forget the meme: Republicans are either evil or stupid.

Nixon....evil
Ford......stupid
Reagan.....stupid
GHW Bush....evil
Quayle.....stupid
GW Bush.....stupid
Cheney......evil

Try it! It always works! They are trying to paint Cain as stupid?
Two words: ballistics analysis. :)

The Washington Post use to say that about Ronald Reagan too.

They hate conservatives.

They may also be biased against his accent, as in, thinking all Southerners are stupid.

This has been a staple of left/dem propaganda for decades. Republicans are always stupid, even when they have advanced degrees, and Democrats are the smartest people ever, even if they can’t do math or think there are 57 states.

It must work- it’s a constant drumbeat.

They consider it to be “originality” when they concoct some hairbrained scheme that is so divorced from reality anyone of “lesser intellect” would have dismissed it out of hand.

The WashPost has staffers and people on the Editorial Board who are into "smash and grab" as the way to shop.

You can't get simpler than that.

They also advocate human slavery, murdering babies, and a wide variety of other pathologies.

I doubt the person who wrote the article comprehends what he/she said.

But if conservatives call Obama an idiot, we are racists. I never miss a chance to call those who criticize Cain racists. It’s kinda fun.

Accent or no, I can guarantee you that Obama would least like to debate Cain.

Newt would embarrass Obama’s so-called intellectualism, but Cain would show up Obama for his character and class envy crap.
Cain could break into that Black voting monolith, and Obama knows it.

Cain is genuine. Obama is just a figment of whatever one adorns him with.

I heard Cain say he could debate Bambi at least “two levels deep” on each and every topic in a debate, and that Bambi doesn’t even know what the “black experience” is, and Herman Cain does. Hee hee - get the popcorn.

I suspect Herman Cain is as smart or smarter than anyone running on the Republican side, and he is a good man. That is more than can be said for Obama. He isn’t in Herman’s league intellectually, and he will never know what it is to have Herman’s good character. It’s time we throw out the trash, and get a real man like Herman Cain in the White House.
