I plan to live up to my idea of heroism -- and that is to be brave, to follow John Wayne's saying that "Courage is being afraid but saddling up anyway" -- and to take a desperate chance because these are desperate times.
If Romney is the GOP presidential nominee, my vote will go elsewhere; I have given it a LOT of thought over the past five years. Mine is not a knee-jerk emotional response. It's a carefully thought-out decision.
The way I see it, you are afraid not to vote for the Republican. I am, too -- but after too many decades (better late than never), I have finally figured out that a statist is a statist and just as damaging to the Republic if he's a Republican than if he's a Democrat. In fact, he's more damaging to liberty if he's a Republican because he poisons the Republican well, whereas the Democrat statist keeps the Republican well fresh.
In my opinion, the faint-hearted are going to be the ones who vote for Romney. If they win, that "victory" will be everything a coward's victory always is.
I said NO MORE RINOS!
Blah, blah, blah. The Democrats love these threads.
PS: John Wayne was reciting words on a page written by a screenwriter, usually Frank Nugent.
