The Tea Party supports a Sales Tax and a VAT. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Gingrich at Number 3 is worth thinking about. Running out of options fast.

If you don’t support the sales tax, that’s all well and good, but don’t be dishonest. NOBODY is talking about a VAT.

I’m warming up to Newt.

However, he polls as bad against Obama as Palin...so that is a worry I’d have. Plus he’ll be 69 (same age as Reagan, I know) on Election Day.

No, they do not.

As as been pointed out to you in hundreds of posts, you are merely lying about what is in 9-9-9.

Instead of continuing to lie, learn what is actually in 9-9-9.

Sales tax and VAT are the essentially the same thing. What’s wrong with taxing consumption and easing/simplifying/lowering taxes on income? I for one an sick of the use of the trillion page tax code to manipulate human economic behavior.

Yep you are rapidly running out of options to lie about.

How about you put your emotion on hold for even 1 day and actually try to learn about Cain for a change

The fact that you are forced to now just make crap up shows your desperation. The fact that you know it’s not a VAT and continue to say so makes you a proven liar and completely destroys any other point you think you make.

I would like to know what your vision is for funding the federal government. Right now we have a progressive tax code that punishes hard work and success and buys the votes of almost 50% by giving them representation with no taxation. Repealing the 16th amendment might go a long way towards correcting our government largess, however that will not be possible for several election cycles at the least.

I like Cain but I know his 9-9-9 plan will never get through Congress, though I appreciate him bringing the whole problem up for discussion and making people think about it for a change. I'm tired of Republicans paying lip service to fixing it and never offering any real solutions. Even Democrats say they are going to close loopholes and corporate welfare, but they never do. Cain has the testicular fortitude to stand up and say “our system is broken and here's how I'd fix it.”

So what would Huck propose to fund the government, spur the economy and stop the crony tax codes we have now? If you've proposed something or supported something I must have missed it.

Everyone whose voted for a while knows you never get everything you want out of your candidate. They have their warts just like we do. I’m not wild about this tax either but it’s a starting place because it’s an actual plan. And it’s not like he can just move to the WH and enact it by fiat. Congress has to do that. We can simply choose the candidate that MOST represents our POV and our values and that we think has a chance of winning. People here support different candidates right now as we should during primary season. The only way we’re going to get purity and perfection is if God came down from the Heavens and ran. That’s not likely to happen. If it does then I guess we know 0bama really was the antichrist. Or his puppet since the antichrist wouldn’t need a teleprompter.

Agreed. I don’t want the VAT door opened at all. Who would have thought it a month ago, but Newt is looking better and better by the hour. Newt would make a great president, but that baggage doesn’t seem all that bad at the moment.

I don't know any Tea Party supporter who is for a VAT tax. The "FAIR" tax, which is a national sales tax, has always been popular with many in the Tea Party movement.

Personally, I'm crying.

But don't you agree Huck, that Cain's rise is because Palin is out & Perry imploded?

Cain's support is just like water being forced out of one bucket and into another. Not because of any groundswell resonance with his ( naive ) ideas or admiration of his ( non existent ) record.

I’m not too keen on the Sales Tax but let’s assume that 999 could be implemented would it be better than our current mess of a tax code? Almost certainly. The tax code would fit in one thin book not 1000s of pages and several volumns.

Does it decrease political power to use the tax code as a weopon to reward and punish? Yes. Does it go as far as we should no but there is a hunger for the tax code to be revamped and Cain is the only one addressing this and his idea is probably the best one that has any chance of ever becomming reality at this point.

Those corps who use loopholes like Obama’s GE would have to pay 9% regardless. Coporations that currently pay more than 9% would see their taxes reduced as well as they would be able to get rid of legions of tax layers. All of that is a very good thing.

Most of the middleclass who pay less overall taxes under Cain’s plan given that Payroll taxes would be gone except for a flat 9%. Tax time of course wouldn’t be so joyous I know given their would be no hopes and joy from the generous government giving your money back to you but I digress.

The sales tax I believe is the hardest thing to buy into though I believe that it is problem the best from of taxation given that it applies most to those that consume the most and everyone from bottom up pays as they should.

If the choice is between a flater simpler system and the current system 999 wins every time.

I do think that there is a danger with adding a national sales tax without a constitutional ammenement to explicitly restrict how taxes can and can not be levied to keep a future Democrat from morphing 999 into a European style taxe system just as bad or worse than our current one.

Herman Cain is a good candidate and he has a lot of other positives. He could very well take a big enough chunk of African Americans to make Obama’s re-election an impossibility. Right now it is truly nearly impossible as it is. All you have to do is look at the independent numbers versus undecides and right track wrong track numbers. If the election were held today Obama would lose in a landslide against almost any of the current candidates. Right now most national polls have large numbers of undecideds as they always do this far out and they almost never go for the incumbent under these conditions.

I bet you are supporting the liberal pro-ILLEGAL immigration career politician candidate Perry. Those people are what’s sad when they consider themselves Conservative and support the status quo pro-illegal candidate because they themselves couldn’t care less about something that’s killing the nation, and is just as dangerous for our nation as every other issue. There is no, inside or outside, threat that’s anymore dangerous than illegal immigration and I don’t understand why so many can just ignore it as an issue.
