Maybe all these “Perry” numskulls will finally admit their guy is done for ...
Thanks for your response. I agree, if that were the case Cain could certainly tip the scale toward the conservatives in the Black community and perhaps be a historical turning point.
His 999 plan is a good plan if he actually has a chance (more than 30 seconds in a debate) to talk about it. But, your idea is solid.
About Palin...while yes I agree, she needs to be out in front with Herman; not behind the scenes.
Finally, agreed on Newt. I am not sure he’d settle for second, but it is worth a shot.
From the shift in the Romney numbers, it would appear that some Perry votes went to Romney...
Ever hear of Art Laffer?
Does Gingrich’s 10% transfer to Cain? If so we have our President!
No only what you say, but the argument against Cain’s 9-9-9 plan because Congress would simply increase the percentages in later years is also specious. As you point out we now have a progressive tax system that can be changed a the will of Congress. IOW we have that now. At least Cain’s plan brings in all Americans into the system. And that’s a very good starting point for any overhaul of the system.
The point is, Cain is at least willing to propose a plan so the issue can be discussed as it should be. It’s a starting point. And the fact no one else in the running has dared present a plan shows his leadership qualities excel. But, there will always be nay-sayers because that’s all they know what to do with a half-filled glass. Their input is worthless because the spew agenda instead of ideas.
He might have some axes to grind too. Which is just fine.
A National level sales tax is a Value Added Tax.
Will you tax food?
Will you tax services?
Will you tax medicine?
Will you tax medical services?
If the answer to any of those is yes, it’s a VAT.

No, a national sales tax is NOT a VAT. Read the difference somewhere and get back to us.
I don't know any Tea Party supporter who is for a VAT tax. The "FAIR" tax, which is a national sales tax, has always been popular with many in the Tea Party movement.
Unfortunately that ain't gonna happen unless his Texas boys put some stop payment orders out. Perry's Texas benefactors just pooped out a bowl full of bucks for him. If he can't deliver at the national level they will be looking for a little sumpthin', sumpthin' once he retires back to the Governor's office.
Not to mention insulting the people he should have been courting...
“I for one an sick of the use of the trillion page tax code to manipulate human economic behavior.”
I couldn’t agree more. Not only that, but EVERYONE will have some so-called “skin in the game!” Maybe the bottom 50% of earners won’t be so enthusiastic the next time their government wants to raise the taxes, then.
An important point in support of your position:
The only national (don't know about state offices) public office Abraham Lincoln ever held before he was elected president in 1860 was as a U.S. Representative a number of years before. He lost the Lincoln-Douglas debates, Douglas being the one who was elected to the U.S. Senate. Lincoln made his reputation in the private sector as a particularly effective railroad lawyer, representing, among others, the Illinois Central Railroad.
“I have noticed that Romney can only muster 26% to 29% no matter what. I wold say he has maxed out ...”
Agreed. Romney’s best shot was last time. He was a more convincing fake conservative in ‘08 than he is today, and his vile record as a governor has become better known. His machine may have made a bigger, grander Trojan horse for this cycle, but it is more widely recognized as a Trojan horse.
It was hard to read the sarc because that’s been posted by many hear..... with a strait face.
