Fueled by Tea Party supporters, conservatives and high-interest GOP primary voters, former Godfathers Pizza CEO Herman Cain now leads the race for the Republican presidential nomination, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
snip
Cain checks in as the first choice of 27 percent of Republican voters in the poll, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 23 percent and Perry at 16 percent. After those three, its Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 11 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 8 percent, Bachmann at 5 percent and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman at 3 percent.

Another way to look at it is:
You make 50,000 a year. 15.3% income tax going down to 9% means you have $3,150 more in your pocket for the year.
The sales tax is 9%. And that is on new goods only. You would have to spend $35,000 in the year (on new goods alone) to equal the tax amount that you saved on the decreased income tax.
Highly doubtful anyone bringing home $45,500 a year is spending $35,000 on taxable new goods. Almost certainly they are spending far less and thus having a sizable net annual tax benefit.
Wrong. See my post 301. You can change the starting income amount and do the math yourself but the point is the same.
Well Sorry Catfish. Over the years we have had a lot of people show up here and make a post or two and then disappear for years then show up again and claim a lot of credibility because they have been posting since say February 17, 2001 about NAACP “Strictly Against” Holding Civil War Reeactment Here.
Then they don't post again for a year and a half until July 25, 2002 about Additional Threats to Southern Heritage. Then we don't hear from them until six years later on June 14, 2008, when they post something about John Coleman's (Weather Channel Founder) Comments Before the San Diego Chamber of Commerce. Then it is another year before the two more posts are made in 2009. Then it is a year before we see two more posts in 2010.
Then since October 5, 2011 we get a flood of posts from someone who doesn't seem to be very fond of any Republican candidate. And he is suppose to have some credibility because he made about half a dozen posts in the previous ten years? This person has posted a bunch of truly CREEPY posts.
“In our parts they were called N Chasers”
“as FR Palinites are going into meltdown mold, and heads are exploding.”
“I was leaning Perry, until he became a living breathing gaffe machine.”
“Perry's gaffe a minute antics will lead to an Obama landslide.”
“Delusional Palinites just will not eat crow.”
I made the mistake once of calling someone a “troll” before looking at their posting history. It was a bad mistake. That is one of the reasons that I have a reminder to myself to “Check your facts before making ignorant statements.”
So yes, I looked over your posting history and although we probably agree on many topics... I am not very impressed. William Safire, penned the term “nattering nabobs of negativity” in a speech for former Vice President, Spiro Agnew. I believe that the term could be used to describe most of what you have written. Unlike other forums, you can easily look over the posts others have made here at Free Republic. It is one of the most brilliant features built into the site by the visionary founder Jim Robinson. “The sales tax is 9%. And that is on new goods only.”
So not on food or medical care or prescriptions?
Think I live in the DEpowerment zone. LOOK at this for example...spent 58.76 at Walmart today add tax 1 which is 7.225%=3.80 to my purchase and tax 2 @4.225% added another .25 cents to the purchase...now IF 999 is enacted add an additional 9 cents on the dollar. My total came to 62.81 from a 58.76 purchase now add an additional 9% and tell me this doesn’t hurt the consumer
Hey if Mr. Cain wins the primary, I’ll support him every way possible. I just don’t think he can
Caint imagine in my wildest dreams, that the tea party members will go for a natioal sales tax.

The 9-9-9 turns ...
1) illegals
2) Those who don’t pay income tax
3) Those on section 8 housing who drive BMWs
4) welfare recipients
... into taxPAYERS.
This means 1/2 the country that was NOT paying taxes, now is.
Which means the other 1/2 that was paying ALL the taxes, is now paying less.
Sounds great! Everybody has skin in the game when the time comes to talk of “raising taxes”.
1/2 the country never votes right? Once tax PAYERS realize that this will lower their tax burden, they will crawl over broken glass to vote for this.
If you don’t agree, please tell me what I am failing to consider.
Just wait until Chris Wallace exposes the honky rock at Cain’s hunting camp.
I kept trying to put “honky rock” in a “honky tonk” kind of sense, and then it hit me. :>)
Hunting Camp! I need coffee after 5 to think clearly. :>)
No..
Thanks Future Useless Eater.
Wow.....you are past creepy. Thankyou for verifying.
“He has no record. Hes unaccountable.
Another plus! Not beholding to anyone.
As stated,I’ll defer to the Math and Physics Major who turned around 400 poorly performing BK’s into the top performing BKs in the country.
And I’ll defer to the former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
He knows more about turning failure into success than just about anyone outside of Donald Trump.
No more FICA.
We have had a lot of people posting divisive comments about our Republican candidates over the past couple of weeks that are intended to kill enthusiasm. Some are just getting a little carried away and forgetting that tearing down our candidates is often helpful to the other side. However, some of these people are here from the other side. Free Republic is not here to help our opponents humiliate us.
So you think it is “creepy” to check into the posting history of those posters despite the damage they are doing to our field of candidates? How do you feel about requiring employers to check into the citizenship of their employees? How do you feel about checking into the background of foreigners coming into this country? How do you feel about defending yourself against someone who is attacking you? And you claim to be a conservative?
I don't have a problem with a lively political discussion, I get into it and often get a little carried away myself. These fights have often ended up being productive. But when I see a lot of posts coming from someone that seem to be tearing down our candidates and other Freepers... I am going to continue to look into their posting histories to see if there is a pattern that might indicate that they are here only to cause problems. When I find someone who looks like they really are here only for destructive purposes... I will be bringing it to the administrators' attention. Jim Robinson does not approve of trolls. I believe the next election is going to be a battle for the survival of our great Republic. So I make no excuses; you are welcome to call me "past creepy" all you want.
Has anything been changed to prevent a 2008 rerun? I think not. The first 4 or 5 primary states will likely choose our next Repub candidate. At least to the point of eliminating conservatives, with their crossover primaries. And those states are likely to be blue states anyway.
Yeah, verily.
