Fueled by Tea Party supporters, conservatives and high-interest GOP primary voters, former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain now leads the race for the Republican presidential nomination, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

snip

Cain checks in as the first choice of 27 percent of Republican voters in the poll, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 23 percent and Perry at 16 percent. After those three, it’s Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 11 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 8 percent, Bachmann at 5 percent and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman at 3 percent.

means losing the home interest deduction, that should do wonders for the home market!

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Why should someone get a tax break for borrowing too much to buy a home?

That contributed highly to what got us into this mess in the first place.

The tax code should NOT be used for social engineering. People should be allowed to keep as much of their paycheck as possible (ie, have the lowest possible tax rates), then spend it or save it according to what makes sense for them personally.

And EVERYONE should pay taxes. That will be a huge disincentive for any elected official to propose to raise taxes.

"Cain’t imagine in my wildest dreams, that the tea party members will go for a natioal sales tax."

Talk about context!

One cannot separate one from the other two legs of Cain's plan.

Lower my income tax to 9% and I'll gladly pay a 9% sales tax on everything I buy, including food. Heck, I moved out of California to avoid its state income tax.

It's a sales tax, not a VAT.

Look—these things will have to be figured out by people much smarter than I am.

My only point is that to have my income tax reduced to 9% would be wonderful.

Losing home interest deduction.

dang, you perry people and your social worries, I guess removing a large slice of social engineering is heartless as well.

It is your opinion that Perry is unelectable, but not mine. He has only been in the race a little over a month. I will wait and see. You state that Cain will crush Obama. Maybe maybe not. It is too early to tell. Polls mean nothing right now, especially small samples.

Next debate I am waiting for Perry to tell us he has an economic but he’s going to give it to us in Spanish first to let the illegals know he’s serious about cracking down on them-translation will appear in English in the lower screen ticker so we can all understand it.

$25,000 a year now pays no income tax

—————————————————>

A person making $25,000 a year is now likely getting food stamps, disability, a free cell phone, free medical and a host of other government entitlements!

I also bet a majority of them have cable/satillite TV, a car, a computer, and a flat screen TV.

The 9-9-9 plan is a process towards a Flat Tax. I’m tired of 50% of these folks getting a free ride.

OK, I’ll just admit it.

The real reason I wanted to vote for Sarah, and the reason I’m excited about a Herman Cain Presidency, is that I like watching liberals’ heads explode with rage.

I’m sorry, but it’s true.

Or are we talking about the campaigner advisor and supporter of Al Gore, La Raza and the changing of parties to have an (R) behind his name to appeal to the changing political winds?

Oh geez, how we are simple minded, heartless conservatives!

I’ll be thinking about that all the way to the Florida primary!

lets see... we’re in a world wide recession nearly a depression caused by the collapse of the housing sector in America...

and the solution is to .... eliminate the home mortgage deduction instantly bankrupting nearly every homeowner in America?

lol

great plan

Rush owns Perry because he urged him to run in the first place. I initially thought, based on Rush's input, that Perry was the man until he came out with his position on illegals being able to attend state colleges....then adding that conservatives that support this are heartless.

Rushbo is wrong on Perry and I wish he would man up to it!

And Santorum? Like everyone else, no other candidate had a plan and then he does his childlike 000 plan. That's not President material in my mind. The main thing that Santorum finds ridiculous about Cain is that, “It Should Have Been Me”.

It's over

Well, see ya then. No use for you to waste any further effort. Take care. I hope you don't mind if some of us stick around a little longer and actually do something to save our Country by getting a conservative elected as president. I know, it's over, but some of us are just obstinate. Maybe we'll here from you in the 2016 election?

But, the Perrybots tell us he can’t win. That he won’t win. That he doesn’t have the money or the organization...that really, Perry is the one. This goes for Paul supporters too. Let me guess, like the PPP poll, they will also say this one is bogus. Just wait.

Go Cain!!!

Obviously, you know nothing about the Cain plan...many on here do not, and if they do, they want to continue to lie about what is in it. Most of you are Paulies and Perrybots. Now, you ask why Tea Party people would go for a national sales tax...what, pray tell, is the vaunted fair tax? HMMM?

Then why is his coffer so low?

What makes you think that? I haven't seen him not be able to do something in his campaign because of lack of money. Perry has some money, that's true, but people still don't like him. They like Cain. I'm sure fund raising is looking up just like the polls.

Huck, this is just an FYI that the trolls are on board

That's fair enough. I sometimes check to see who is agreeing with me, because sometimes they aren't the sorts you want to engage in conversation. Of course I don't really care who does or doesn't agree with me. It doesn't sway my thinking one way or the other. Guilt by association ain't my bag.

But thanks for the heads up. Seems that all the candidates have their trolls and shills. Comes with the territory.

“I mean, once Cain is in the White House, how likely is it that, he’ll actually propose the plan, and how likely is it that congress will actually take it up or even discuss it seriously?”

They won’t even discuss. It is already DOA even if he was to get elected. There are a great many things to like about Cain....but the 999 plan is not one of them. I honestly don’t understand who would like this? I HATE paying sales tax. I already pay about 9% income tax under the current code (after deductions, etc.). Why would I want to pay an additional 9% sales tax? That is a no duh thing.

I really do like Cain, but the 999 is not enough to propel him into the Oval Office......it is too simplistic and won’t fly with congress. He needs to move away from it, to a realistic plan to gradually reform the tax code. If he sticks with the 999 platform he is in danger of being a one trick pony.
