Obama Crushes Perry In New Poll
The Business Insider ^ | 10/12/11 | Zeke Miller

A new Rasmussen poll is pouring salt on Texas Gov. Rick Perry's wounds.

The struggling one-time front-runner is now trailing President Barack Obama in a head-to-head matchup 49 percent to 35 percent. Obama was leading Perry six or fewer points in two recent Rasmussen polls — and Perry narrowly polled ahead of Obama in early September.

Perry would fare worse than businessman Herman Cain, who in a poll last week trailed Obama 42 percent to 39 percent. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney polls even with Obama — the best of the Republican presidential candidates.

Yes, I recognize the establishment hasn’t been able to get Perry...and once in a while we have someone not allowing the establishment to direct them so we are able to see the truth of how well Perry is actually doing.
Dear God in heaven, please help us. With this type of "intellect" on our side, no wonder we go Barack Obama.

If they are so much alike then why hasn’t Bush come out endorsing him? Perry is completely on the other end of the compass from the Bushes.

Are you from Texas too? A compass is round. It does not have ends.

A scenario where we took the Senate and added to the House and stood unified against Obama might be preferable to a dim-wit like Perry fracturing the party, importing 30 million illegal aliens, and continuing spending us into oblivion.

No. That one wasn’t funny. It was pitiful.

Didn't know much about Rick Perry until he got into the race in August. Certain posters here on the Free Republic seemed to be greatly enamored of him so I thought I'd give him a good look even though I was still waiting for Palin to state her intentions at the time.

I say they must be smoking some good weed down in Texas because quite frankly, I have been rather underwhelmed by this guy. He makes GWB sound like a statesman. Empty suit. Mike Dukakis hair. Whenever I see him at one of those debates, he's got that deer-in-the-headlights look.

So far, he hasn't given me any indication whatsoever that he will advance the conservative cause if he is elected. With respect to his record in Texas, it appears he inherited a good situation but has not done anything to improve upon it. If anybody wants to give me examples of Rick Perry being a conservative down in Texas, I'd be happy to read about them. He certainly hasn't shown any conservative inclinations in those silly debates we've had so far.

With respect to his performance in last night's debate, I'll quote a local Boston talk radio show host..."He (Perry) was so stiff, he looked like he was on loan from Madame Tussaud's wax museum."

I am getting the same sickening feeling about Rick Perry that I had about John McCain four years ago. I'm concerned that if we nominate another stuffed shirt like him, we are going to once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Not surprising... I get the impression from many Freepers’ posts that they’d rather have Romney as president, or even see Obama re-elected, over Perry. Perplexing. And sickening.

Only one person is responsible for Perry's plummet in the polls, and that's Perry. I guess for the worst Perrybots, they just can't bring themselves to accept that, so they have to blame everyone BUT Perry.

You know professors who don't know the difference between the 16th, 17th & 18th century? We're in worse shape that I thought! Oh, and it's gaffes, not gaffs. I don't usually correct spelling (I make mistakes too) but since you're a history professor, I thought I'd set you straight.

Why does he have to overcome it? Obama didn’t have to overcome the image of the Muslim-loving, bible-hating, anti-American. Why can’t we support an evangelical gun nut for president?

he's certainly started looking like an incompetent buffoon, watching things spin out of control as he becomes irrelevant. He just seems to be fading into the background.

Nobody takes him seriously at all. No leadership, no "hopey-changey" anymore. Just some pathetic loser who's simply occupying space as history goes by.

Hey, and I understand about having a liberal wife. My wife still DOES want to pay to see "The Avengers" even though it has Samuel L. Racist in it, whereas I have a stick up my rear about that.

I think that’s about where I am too. But I also don’t want the Repoublicans to take my vote for granted. I’m sure you feel the same.

I also fear that Perry is this year’s Fred Thompson. He may not have put the work and energy needed into the campaign.

Vote either for the shakedown artist Obama, or for the RINO wusses who get shaken down and blames the Tparty... hmm...

I think I might have been here “long enough” to comment, and I agree with the poster you just attacked. Not everyone here is on the hate-Perry bandwagon. Frankly, now that Palin is out of the running, Perry is about the only one I’d even bother to leave the house to vote for.

A compass has a right side and a left side, and they are in opposition.

Oh, did he go after Romney? Could have fooled me.

Change your tagline to Rubio/Perry. Perry could easily take on Joe Biden’s role.

Who would run second to Perry? LMAO.

Yes, I do. People that use the terms often, in particular, will say the wrong century. Most of the time they/we correct ourselves, but sometimes these mistakes happen. It’s quite common. I’m comfortable without a spell check in this most informal forum, but thank you anyway.

No dirtboy, it's FReepers, according to the newer member, who's clueless about our utter disgust and dislike, for all things Romney.

Governor Perry's fall in the polls and his disfavor with conservatives is of his own making; his own words, --- but he can make amends... IF he does some serious preparation and some serious tightening up of his policies.

I’m not changing my tagline, thank you. And yes, Perry went after him. He is also spending thousands on anti-Romney campaign ads. No one else is.

“I’ve read more than one comment by you that is not true”

I am still waiting on you to back up your earlier comment that I lied about Rick Perry. I haven’t bothered you to hurry up about it but um....tick-tock.
