A new Rasmussen poll is pouring salt on Texas Gov. Rick Perry's wounds.
The struggling one-time front-runner is now trailing President Barack Obama in a head-to-head matchup 49 percent to 35 percent. Obama was leading Perry six or fewer points in two recent Rasmussen polls — and Perry narrowly polled ahead of Obama in early September.
Perry would fare worse than businessman Herman Cain, who in a poll last week trailed Obama 42 percent to 39 percent. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney polls even with Obama — the best of the Republican presidential candidates.

So you can now go make up some sort of cute little catch phrase like “cain train” and watch as your candidate prostitutes himself to Romney when he wins the nomination. None of them. I would rank Perry at top comparatively but don’t like his immigration position. I like Newt in debates but can’t support him. Don’t like any of the rest of them.

I didn’t post anything in breaking news. If Perry’s paid fangirls would stop agitating here at FR, I wouldn’t give him a second thought at this point. We don’t have time for the fangirls to continue tearing down conservatives to try and prop up this pathetic mess of a candidate with a record full of red flags.

YES!! There is no other option. Give him another 4 years, you might as well kiss America goodbye. The only remote chance we might have if he is re-elected is if we have a large majority in the senate as well as the house and they thwart his every move. BUT he has already made it clear he doesn’t give a rats a$$ what they do or how they vote, he will just do it anyway. We are entering Castro, Chavez, etc. territory now. We are in the danger zone. A pissed off Marxist, a rejected pathological narcissist... now he gets real dangerous.
I pray his campaign is not dead and he can overcome the damage he has done to himself. If he can, that’s great, I’ll jump on the Perry bandwagon. BUT he better change if fast because the media is all over it, making him look like an idiot, the same thing they did with Palin. Perry is self destructing in the debates. If he can’t handle those can he handle debating a skilled Marxist community organizer that the single solitary thing he has ever been good at is talking crap and making people buy it, like Yes we Can and Hope and Change.
It does scare the hell out of me. He doesn’t, the fact that 49% of American voters would vote for him again(if that is true, which I doubt), that is what’s really scary. Makes me wonder if America as we knew it is already lost and we just don’t know it yet.
Perry is NOT lousy. He is a staunch conservative who has been viciously attacked both in media, so called debates and especially here on free republic. Conservatives who are moaning and groaning about Romney have only themselves to blame. No candidate is perfect, but worse Romney is a very liberal politician.

Sorry to disappoint you but the Perry supporters are not going to be silenced and will not get silenced unless we are banned from this forum. I am strongly supporting Perry till the end. Not a single vote has been cast yet in these primaries and polls are meaningless at this stage. Go and check the 2008 primaries about polls and who was called the one who is going to win everything according to all the polls and whose campaign was announced dead for many months and until the first primary vote is cast. We the Perry supporters are in it for the long run and we will not give up because of the meaningless early polls and we will not be intimidated by anyone.
Perry is an Evangelical Christian and a staunch Republican. Bush was a good man, but not as conservative as Perry. Supporters of Paul, Bachmann, Romney, and Cain have been viciously attacking Perry. Uninformed voters have apparently believed the smears.

I suggest you look at his record in TX. Your insults does not speak well for your opinion. Perry is not a debater, but he is certainly not stupid. He has been elected Governor of TX
three times. I am from TX, and I hope you will find out more information before trashing him on the web.
Perry isn’t a staunch anything. He’s a pandering opportunist with a penchant for cronyism.
For the life of me, I’ll never understand why people would condemn Obama for Solyndra and Rezko land deals while tolerating such behavior from our own side.
Perry’s dealings with Merck are reprehensible as is the shameless corruption that has occurred with the ETF.
If you want to lose the Tea Party, vote for Perry. If you want to nominate a guy who has a graveyard’s worth of skeletons in his closet, vote for Perry.
Patience, polls at this stage of the primaries are totally meaningless. In the fall of 2007 everyone announced the death of the McCain primaries campaign all the way until few days before the first vote was cast in the primaries. Debate do not win or lose elections. Campaign are fought in the field, meeting with voters, giving campaign speeches and rallies, TV and radio ads, etc... Perry has plenty of money to engage in a very strong campaign. I am supporting him till the end.
