The meteoric rise of Herman Cain and his 9-9-9 plan continues, as the former Godfather's Pizza CEO is now the leading candidate in Iowa, according to recent polling numbers.

The Public Policy Polling poll, conducted Oct. 7-10, polled 311 probable Iowa caucusgoers and found that 30 percent would likely vote for Cain, the Atlanta businessman. Mitt Romney was second with 22 percent and Ron Paul rounded out the top three with 10 percent.

Can Cain do it? Man, I sure hope so.

This is exciting...and a little bit terrifying. The media assault is coming, and it is going to be brutal.

Did you sign on today to turn people away from Cain?

That's funny because there's another guy on another thread who signed on yesterday to do the same thing.

Is this a trend? Are you a troll who's afraid of Herman Cain??

Herman Cain's 9-9-9 plan is the only one that solves this problem:

Yes. But is it a good campaign strategy to run on a vow to increase taxes for 47% of voters? Full disclosure: I support Herman, but am unsure that 9-9-9 is an election winner.

I give Cain 3 weeks as front runner unless he dumps the 9-9-9. It’s the last nine that’s the killer. How many of you want to pay a 9% sales TAX? Not me, apparently not anybody in the New Hampshire audience last night. This 9-9-9 thing ain’t gonna fly once people start looking at it. Cain has a shot at this, but the 9% sales tax has to go.

If it means dropping from a 30 percent corporate tax and dropping from the 30 percent income tax bracket?

I’d do it in an instant.

Besides, NH is for Romney of all people.

Let me ask you a question.

If you are paying 30 percent corporate taxes, and you can drop down to 9 percent, do you think that will help the bottom line?

I’m not so sure that we’d see price increases even with the sales tax. Chopping the corporate tax so drastically really encourages businesses to locate themselves in America.

Most people don’t care about the corporate tax rate and most people are in the 15% bracket, not the 30%. The 9% sales tax rate will likely increase their total tax burden and it is a tax that will be visible every single day. Also, what about deductions - does his plan do away with mortgage deductions, most corporate deductions (except for actual costs), etc.?

Wow. A FOURTH anti-Cain troll who signed on today.

Are you folks being paid to invade FR with anti-Cain garbage?

Who the hell are you talking to? Number 1, I did NOT just sign on today. Number 2, who said I am anti-Cain, I hope he succeeds, but I just don’t think he will if he keeps with the 9% sales tax. A little touchy there, aren’t you?

Oops. My mistake.

I just saw three other trolls who signed on today and were bashing Cain, and I misread your sign-on date.

Please accept my apology.

(And congratulations on your one year anniversary today :).

“Mitt is moribund”

Hmmm, the establishment has declared him the frontrunner and inevitable nominee.

Unless we unify on a conservative candidate, we are stuck with Mitt.
